Now, we are, and I'd call it, damned topic of Melodic Rock. Damned, because, on this musical style somehow there is a curse. Whereby, let's face it, Melodic Rock is a wide expression. Because literatually this is nothing else than Rock Music, only with a little more melody and some bombast. And over all combined with the visual appearance, which contains mostly long angel curls, sophiticated outfit, but still with this little touch of wild Rock'n'Roll life, even it's not.
However, one thing is for sure, the so called Melodic Rock had it's high times sometime in the middle and end of the eighties, saved itselves into the ninties, and then got stuck and drowned in the jungle of so much different and new music. Only these so called cult bands stil kept going. Most other's where put on hiatus, but believe it or not, woke up in this century from their beauty sleep to continue where they once stopped, but only with low success. To get it straight: Melodic Rock has never been so dead, as today. Sad but true.
The german band Jaded Heart for instance, never took a break between 1991, when they were founded and nowadays. But exept of a little echo within Germany they never hit the very big spot. As known, Michal Borman, their co-founder and singer left the band because of internal reasons in 2004. And from that time, he follows his own path. But despite all his talent, he's obviously got, it is more than difficult to carry on to a higher level with the Melodic Rock. But Borman ain't the guy who's giving in easily and throw the towel, exept into the audiance. And when you look at his discography, he is probably one of the busiest Rock'n'Rollers Germany has got to offer.
Anyway, tonight we got him and his band in Munich at our good old Garage Club. And that one is pretty well filled, though not sold out completely. I'd say, there are aprox. 100 to 150 people here tonight.

But first of all it's Sahara Rain from Switzerland .

These six musicians are from Zurich and have founded the band in 2007. And they now got one album named 'Sands In Your Hands' in the luggage. Musically they are going for the typical Melodic Rock, but with some extraordinary exotic tunes inbetween. To be honest, I can' t tell you too much about them, as I arrived at the venue pretty late and just caught up with the last little bit of their set. Too less to allow myself a critic. But I could at least film this clip below, and you can decide yourself, whether you like 'em or not at the first glimpse.

Further Infos about this Bandcan be found at: http://www.sahararain.com/

Michael Bormann is, what you call a real Sunnyboy....

He's (still) good looking beeing 43 years of age, and he truly puts out enough positive aura to hug the whole world, as we say so. So what? He's still got tons of female fans, who really adore him, like other's go for Brad Pitt and George Clooney (me for instance). And he's fine with that, but also having of course enough male admirers.
I have to say, I came here without big expectations, but I'm wrong. Because the show we get offered tonight shows good quality produced by so much talent given by Michael and his band.  Oh yeah, I maybe should mention, that this concert was orginally scheduled in spring, but had to be postboned due to an accident. And Michale apologizes for this cicumstances again giving teh reason, that he shouldn't have climbed out of a bathtube to get something to drink and then try to get back in again. Autsch, that must have hurt like hell. And it seems, that Adams oh sorry- Michael's rips  are still not a 100% alright. Yeah well, by getting older, it takes a bit longer with the health. On the other hand, we are not that old yet, are we?!

Apart from that, I have to mention something else, or better Michael has to say that on stage. It's the fact, that all these bad rumours about his split from Jaded Heart, he definately didn't spill.  And let's face it.... He doesn't seem to be this sort of guy, spilling poison about past facts and circumstance.
But back to the action here on this tiny stage at the Garage. Next to the mainman, there is this great guitarist named Andreas Rippelmeier. I can't say a lot about him, as I didn't know about him 'till this very day. But apparently according to his  My Space  he also belongs to a band named Heavenwood. so does bassist Oli Müller and keyboardist Marco Grasshoff. On drums we find Per Helge 'Peppa' Bruvoll from Norway, who also plays in the band 'Rain'.

However, the harmony between these guys is great. And the program offers us an original-interesting mixture of Borman solo tracks and various songs from his different band projects. And the most important thing is: it ain't get boring for one single second. The only thing, I personally have to criticice, are the low light circumstances for taking pics. But I'm used to it, so I know the situation there anyway....

Apart from that, this show is surely a success for the audiance, good entertainent because of a band, who is seeking the contact to the crowd. And not to forget Albert, our stage Fellini tonight, who is filming everything, what moves.

I could only cry about one thing, and this is the fact, that I experience all the time brilliant and motivated musicans, who can't manage to reach the status, they deserve. But that's definately not their fault. It's rather due to the fact, that, like I said in the beginning: - Melodic Rock is dead. But who knows.... maybe one day it raises up again from beyond and has a third spring time, - you never know. So come on and have listen to Michael Bormanns music. It's really worth it....
