Once again, I
have the situation, that originally I would not have attended this event
if didn't have a photocall for some printmag. And what shall I say?! Yep,
I'm really gratefull for this photocall, because so I've yet got to know
and luv another band, whom I only know the name and one song of.
This again shows, that you should always be open, also without a
photojob, because some acts are really good for a surprise. I'm a little surprised about the fact, that it is indeed sold out at our Munich Theaterfabrik, fitting in aprox. 1.000 visitors. Even more doubtful I get about all these mummies with their 14 year old daughters coming along, or the big sister with their little one. Jes.... and my first thought is, that this not a Backstreet Boys or Tokio Hotel sort of madness. It speaks for itselves, that I need more than 10 minutes to get from the main entrance to the front and the photopit. Well, the view onto to the first rows behind the pit speaks also another language, and I'm almost scared about the things coming up here. I've missed the first supportact anyway. But by listening to the last few tunes by arriving at the venue, I've got the impression, that I haven't missed out a lot. The second band tonight is amed 'American Steel' and comes from sunny California. And these musicians could easily be the dad's of all these exited chicks in the audiance. These punkrockers are
going now for 14 years within the international scene and have put out
their fifth album, entitled ‚Dear Friends And Gentle Hearts’
last july. Frontman Rory Henderson explains, why they are still pretty
unkknown over here: "we have been over to Europe several times, but
never to Munich yet." Apart from Henderson there are Ryan Massey (Git),
John Peck (Bass) and Scott Healy (drums). I for my part, who belong certainly to the oldest visitors here can ony advise you to have a listen to the music of American Steel. And I only hope, that htis visit of the band won't be the first and the last one....
And this special something is storming the stage like a mad bumblebee and conquers all female souls within 1 second. And even I am pretty impressed about such a huge aura and ego this bunch of energy named Tyson Ritter has got. The screaming level goes beyond pain level, and I'm once again grateful to have a whole photopit for even just myself and no other photographer. Everything outside is under the danger risk for life. 11 years, 3 albums and 2 hitsingles - ‚Gives You Hell’ and ‚I Wanna’ the All American Rejects could place in the charts over here and on MTV. In fact, the song 'Gives You Hell' was one of the most played tracks on radio over here past may. So no surprise, that this band has shot like a rocket to the moon on the scale of popularity. And as we all know, whatever get promoted the right way and much enough, and is looking good, got all the chances in the world for hitting it big. Well , apart from the 2 hitsongs, which are rather popsongs, the rest of the song material is hard rock (no new metal and no alternative, but therefore without any compromises.
And Tyson, who is really working hard phyiscally up there is pushing up the kids even more. No surprise, that he shows not a single inch of fat on his body. He jumps, he bends, and wipes the floor and at the same time his lungs are dancing a tango with his vocal chords. Inbetween he entertains the crowd and seeks even the body contact at the barriere with the girls. And I ask myself ever further minute, where does this guy take all his energy from. The rest of the group almost vanishes behind his enormous ego. All songs of the All
American Rejects are suitable to dance and sing along. This here is well
done hardrocking entertainment. And I'm truly surprised by this band.
Because with such an audiance, I would have expected everything else,
but not this here. But again, on the other hand it proves, that all the
girls here don't care about the music so much. I assume, Tyson could
sing Twinkle little Star up there, and they would luv him. But luckily
he won't go down to that, but comments very zynically, how young his
fans all were.... PS: before I forget... Tyson's good bye is a very short and painless one. - Thank you - good bye and off we go withing 2 seconds is our sportsman - for good. (view clip below..) |
