Okidok and let's face it.- There is none better then a huge potential in diversion in things in life, also for the music. And my attitude is still the same - there is only good and bad music, no matter what kind of. And every, - I mean, really every music has it's right to be on this planet. Because of this, Musicmirror is named Musimirror and not Rock - Pop - Metal or whatever - Mirror. Thanks to my job as photographer for different Rock'n'Roll magazines, this site is of course more or less leaned on Rock. But inbetween you always find some Pop, Blues, Soul or Jazz. These styles of music have also got briliant artists and performers, who I really admire.
But let's stay with Rockmusic again, which by the way, many people tend to put into several draws again. We got Soft, Melodic.- Hardrock, then Heavy,- Thrash,- Death,- Black and other Metal. And unfortunately many fans are narrowminded and don't accept other's then just one and only direction.
Well, I don't wanna talk much more about this subject here. But what I wanna say here - yesterday we had punkmusic ala' Green Day. And tonight we got Krautrock with jane and Pavlov's Dog are going for Progressive Rock. And I'm looking forward to it, because as I said in the beginning: Varieties and changes makes life exitiing, exspecially as a musicjournalist.

I've seen Jane live on Stage in the past, so this is nothing new to me.

And I remember it very well in a very good way. The band is already on stage and playing when I arrive. But thanks god, I do miss only a few minutes. - I've gotta mention, that Jane are actually taking the supportslot for Pavlov's Dog. But there are also events, where Jane headline and a german band named Subsignal do support. However, one thing is for sure. Jane play a  longer set as the usual 45 minutes. Yeah well, Jane's songs are requesting for a long showtime, as there is almost none piece of music shorter than 10 minutes. Bad luck for me and my video clips, as you can't upload any longer as these odd 10 min. on You Tube. So please excuse, if you find a sharp cut at some of them here.
Well, for everybody who is not so familiar with this band, here is a brief introduction of the bandmembers.
Bass: Charly Maucher (Jane founder member & Harlis foundermember)
Guitar: Klaus Walz (Epitah founder member/ since the late 80s with Jane)
Guitar: Arndt Schulz (Harlis founder member(Ex-Schaedel Bros)
Drums: Fritz Randow (Ex-Eloy/Ex-Sinner/x-Saxon/Ex-Epitah/Ex-Alex Oriental Experience)
Keyb: Wolfgang Krantz (was with Jane already in 73 and 74/Harlis foundermember/Ex-Efendi's Garden)
That's the best I can provide you in information, thanks to Manni, our No.1 expert here in Munich, what's up to Krautrock.

And Jane don't disappoint us. This here is high quality music up there, presenting us the whole spectrum of their back catalogue. Yeah well, not maybe all of it, otherwise we'd be sitting allnight here. But the most important songs are on the setlist incl. old and new tracks (see setlist below). And most of all, these youthful sunnyboys up there really seem to have fun by performing. The art of the whole show is, that, despite the rather complicated long songs, it never gets any boring. They rock, and our old bones get shaken and we forget about our rheumatism. Some of the audiance immidiately feel beamed back into the past and the glory Krautrock era. (did you know that the word krautrock was actually created by an english man? And that one was famous BBC Radiohost John Peel).

But not that you think, our small audiance (aprox. 350) consists only of seniors. No, in fact, there are quite a few young people, some of them who haven't even been born, when Jane and Pavlov's Dog had their high times. I can't tell you how these youngsters got into this music, but you can see, that they like, what thy get to hear.
Jane have experienced stormy times in the past, many line up changes and existed even in 2 versions for a while. But apparently nothing could ever destroy them. Up there are 5 musicians, who are perfectly tuned to each other, who bouncing the famous sparkle between them and then onto the audiance. So in Jane's case I can only say: long live Krautrock. And please come back soon again.
PS: Jesus wept - am I lucky. 3 brilliant Bands in 3 days (Threshold/Green Day/ Jane) where I got really enthusiastic about.

Time passes to quickly. But of course there is one more band tonight, who wants our attention.

And that is  Pavlov’s Dog. – Also this, but american band, comes from the Seventies. And it has always been this special kind of singing named Falsett by frontman David Surkamp, what they have been famous for. It had become sort of a brand. Well this kind of singing has to meet your taste. But at least it definately draws everybody's attention. If someone doesn't know this outfit, then they think anyway first, there is a woman singing. -
Okay, Pavlov's Dog has never hit it really big worldwide. But they had 3 songs, giving them exspecially in Germany a sort of cultstatus. These tracks are: 'Late November', 'Song Dance' and of course 'Julia'. - From the original line up there is only David Surkamp himself left and drummer Mike Safron. The rest of the group belong to a younger generation. And yes of course, there is Sarah Surkamp, David's wife, who is helping her husband in every way up there :-))) She's handling the background vocals and plays a little guitar and giving David a hell of a selfconfidence up there.

There's a new young girl playing the fiddle, sorry I don't remember her name. But it's a fact, that exspecially the male audiance here do like her a lot from the visual aspect. And mind me, she's pretty well playing her fiddle.

Musically Pavlov's Dog don't sound bad at all. And in the end it is the Die Hard fans of the band who have gathered here, to cheer 'em up and ecourage them to carry on playing. They obviously luv David Surcamp, and they don't wanna let him go. the usual encore is not enought, and David has to come back one more time  for a solo stint.
Like I said before, you have to like this special kind of singing. But then on the whole this show here of Pavlov's Dog is pretty good and well played. And I can only advise you to go and see this band for once, you won't regret it, if you're a little sophisticated what's up to good music.
