Silent Waters are ending deep - who knows this saying, a phrase, where you can put lots of meanings into it. Whatever the finnish Heavy Metal Band Amorphis wanted to say with their last record, before the new one, named 'Silent Waters, is still open. Best thing to do, is, to read the lyrics carefully and get to your own conclusion. One thing is definately for sure. Amorphis have got as much to do with Silten Water, as a goldfish in a tsunami wave. Jes.... you can't talk about a mild summer breeze here, otherwise we send Amorphis back to Lappland and their elks. - But this group has established themselves over the years and proved, that they have their rights for a place in the progressive world of Heavy Metal. Meanwhile, their latest album 'Skyforger' has been released. And No. 1 in the finnish charts speaks for itselves. Here in Germany it's gonne only to 44. But who cares, as they are fighting for their place in the economy class of the metal train, and not just since yesterday. Next year the band celebrates their 20th anniversary. And there are still 3 original members left. In addition to that, they have found an excellent frontman with Tomi Joutsen in 2005, who not only got an exellent voice, but also is a true focus with his voluminous dreadlocks.

But stop, first of all, it's 2 supportacts, who are trying to give the average still calm mood the right spices to develop the place into a hot chilli pot. Chilly need young vegetabel, and this is Amoral in the truest sense in the word.

In this band no musician is older then 26 years of age. And when I read, that Amoral have been founded 9 years ago, then I can only say - respect. You can never start early enough, can you?! This youthful metalheads come from Finland too and have already put out 4 album releases. So you can say whatever you want about them, but definately not, that they are inactive. You feel their enthusiasm live on Stage riding the sticky airwaves in this club. And somebody told me, that singer Ari Kuivonen, who is in the band since last year, has been winner at Finland's edition of Starmania.

Well, I can imagine this quite well, as he's got quite a bit aura and stage presence including a strong voice. 30 minutes unfortunately are much too short to get to know a band well. But we will see, how much we are gonna hear of this band in the near future....

Slowly I get the impression, almost every Heavy Metal band comes from Finland, well maybe 75 percent. And also the second act here
is from Suomi as well as the following headliner. So this is a pure finnish package. Hey, at least they don't do hard with their communication between themselves during this tour.
Before the Dawn celebrate 10 years of existence including 5 albums.

And they describe their style as so called Dark Metal. Tuomas Saukkonen, founder and singer/Git. of the band defines is ever closer as - Scandinavian Melancholic Metal. Well, I have to confess, I always had a bit of a problem with these music style definitions. So paint your own pictures and decide, what you think of every band's individual brand. In this case, I have the feeling, that Before The Dawn are everything else, but not melancholic. Further bandmembers are: Lars Eikind on  Bass, Juho Räihä (Git.) and  Atte Palokangas on drums.
And there are many live- and session musicians named in their biography, who took part in the past at the various projects of Tuomas Saukkonen. What you can watch here, is the fact, that all announcements between the songs, are done by bassist Lars Eikind, who also takes over some lead vocals inbetween. And guitairst Juo Räihä takes care for the right stage air condition by acting as the stage ventilator. Inclusively all these impressing pearcings on Saukkonens forehead, everything is offered for the visuall aspect. Acoustically it's more or less a matter of taste, the sound conditions are great. But the most important thing is, that this band goes very well down on the audiance here.

Last but not least it's Amorphis entering the altar up there and  wauw – first of all I'm fascinated by these seemingly never ending Dreadlocks of Singer Tomi Joutsen

I always thought, my hair is long (waist length) but compared to this, I'm a skinhead. He seems like a Guru, a dancing Rock'n'Roll Derwish and entertainer. Goes down well indeed. And yes of course, most important is the acoustic performance, but the eye wants to eat as well, as we say so over here. And there are quite a few girls in the audiance tonight.
One thing is for sure Amorphis definately didn't make a bad move with this frontman. Tomi has sung himself into the hearts of the fans within a very short time, or should I better say - growled. And he is fully accepted. The 600 - 700 people in the audiance are very enthusiastic and celebrate a big party. The focus of course is put on the new album 'Skyforger'. But also with older songs like '
The Castaway', 'Against Widows' and 'My Kantele' singer Tomi has no problem at all. The encore is the ace on top of it, with 'House Of Sleep' ad the last amen is entitled 'Black Winter's Day'. Yeeessss, we do luv  doing our prayer. And not to forget to mention guitarist Esa Holopainen, who is mainly responsible for Amorphis Music.

This one again shows some interesting and even exotic sound structures. And it is actually these melodies inbetween, which makes the whole concert rather interesting. And yes, the description - Melodic Deathmetal is truly right, this is what it seems to me.
It's a fact, that Amorphis don't need to hide. Each of their nine albums landed in the  hitlists yet. And back in Finland the band has already reached quite a high status. Here in Germany they still swim in the middle league of these kind of bands. And I'm pretty sure, we don't have to wait for too long, that the finnish invasion will return.
Congratulation anyway, - it's been quite a success for every Amorphis fan tonight.
