He has not been in Europe for a very long time. And that's the reason, that only insider or musiclovers of an older generation know his name. And the reason why he has been neclected over here for so long is not known either. Maybe it was his constantly sinking star and getting a bit tired, when getting older what held him back from extended touring. But most possibly it's because of the down going music industry, which makes touring very expensive nowadays.
However, in each case, now we finally got him here in Europe and Germany, and we want to experience a little nostalgic  journey back in time with songs like 'Ride Like The Wind' and his most successful tune 'Arthur's Theme'.
He's got a band as well with him. But because the musicians are from different countries, also from Germany, I assume, he got himself this group just for this european tour. Mind me, they are all brilliant musicians, to take this ahead.

Time has left it's traces, as we say so. And for Christopher Cross it's our small but fine and sophisticated Metropolis Club including chairs, just good enough. There are aprox. 300 guests, mostly elderly one's. those are exactly the audiance, who have experienced the glory days of Mr.Cross in the early Eighties.
A quick word to this artist, who's real name actually is Christopher Geppert and comes from San Antonio, Texas and is 58 years old now. with his westcoast softrock he won a Grammy for best new artist, song, single ('Sailing') and the selftitled debutalbum. On that one also the other hitsingle 'Ride Like The Wind' can be found. One year later in 1982 he had an even more successful song - 'Arthur's Theme', selling more than 1 Mill. singles and of course No 1 again in the US Charts. The other song to mention is 'Alright'. - And on the whole he received 5 Grammys and one oscar.

However, Christopher Cross is an artist, who wrote music history with only 2 songs. It's as easy as this.
His latest releaseswhere a christmas album in 2007 which is available in 2 versions, an american one and an european one. Past year the CD The Café Carlyle Sessions’ came along. But that one again ain't a new studio longplayer but a sort of compilation of his greatest hits recorded in a new acoustic version. And that's it, what he wants to transfer now on stage with his excellent band, exspecially the guy left to him, shown on the pic below. And last but not least, the atmosphere and the acoustic condition is a very good one as well to make this performance a great one...

For my personal taste it is a little quiet. But that's not the point. Most of all it's his high voice level, which gave Christopher Cross this special kind of brand, and how his songs got this extraordinary note.
For 90 minutes he leads us through his musical world. And inbetween he entertains people with witty anekdotes. And like at most concerts, the best things come in the end.

He returns for one more solo song. But that's it for good, though the audiance demands for still one more song, but doesn't get it.
But at least we get 30 minutes of Mr.Cross time to sign autographs for fans.
No, we can't complain. Christopher Cross has proved, that he's still great and up to date. And his presence has proved, that all his milestones have not  been completely forgotten over here. so let's hope, that his visit now, will not be the first and the last one in a long time...
