Normally on this spot there should be a live review about Sonata Arctica. But it doesn't, because this show was cancelled due to a vocal chord infection of the singer. Also Muse would be playing tonight. - But why not checking out a band for a change, which I don't know at all yet playing live on stage. And shortly I will discover, that my decision was dead right.
Despite the fact, that there are 4 concert events in town tonight (next door Morrissey is playing for instance)- there are 600 fans in this club, some of them travelled as far as Canada or the Ukraine. Money and lang ways don't matter to see the Living End at one of their 3 shows in Germany.
Well, I'm glad beeing situated in Munich in that case, as my way to the venue takes just about 20 minutes by car and cost me almost nothing. - Checking out this band in advance on the internet, I already have realised the fact, that they seem to have a hell of a guitarist. So I'm truly curious, what this is gonna be.

Before them, a german outfit named Derfine take the stage....

At their home place called Allgäu (county) they have been active in the underground for quite a few years now. The band has caught this era on 2 longplayers now. And now it's time to conquer the rest of the world, whether playing on big festivals or taking supportslots for other well known acts, like today. In our cace these other act are the Living End, and well, they are known by an insider circles but not that famous yet.
Derfine are
Mike Fine, Julian Fine, Michi Fine and Sven Fine. And despite their young age, these boys are going for a groovy but fast hardrock, moving constantly across the stage to keep the energetic drive in their performance. They are singing in german, which is okay. But it's the voice itselves, where I have a bit of a problem with, and doesn't fit really to the music in my point of view, which again doesn't mean it's bad. And also in this band it's mainly the guitarist, who I'm fond of most.
But well these boys are still young and have all the time in the world to develope and collect experience. Good luck anyway....

Okay, it's not quite right, that I see the Living End for the very first time now....

Because someone mentions, that this band hals already supported Aerosmith at their Munich showcase in the middle of the Ninetees at the Babylon venue. And I remember I was there and took pics of the  headliner. But my grey cells just won't remember at the supportband then. Recently the Living End supported the Toten Hosen on their tour as well.
Never mind. They are here tonight and I'm really curious,  how they come across as headliners. After 15 years of existence, quite a bit of success in their home country Australia and their friendship to Green Day, we may expect quite a bit....

And what shall I say? Yep the expectations get fullfilled. Wauw, what a great Live band the Living End are.
Halleluja, I'm truly exited about it. And this doesn't happen to me very often. Though, lately I had this feeling quite a few times. Exept mastermin Chris Cheeney, there is contra bassist Scott Owen and drummer Andy Strachan. Their musical style is a perfect mixture of punkrock meets rockabilly..

Cheeney is indeed a brilliant guitarist and does his job as singer great as well. It's this typical australian wood worker sexapeal, getting the crowd enthusiastic whithin a very short period of time. Another focus it Scott Owen, who curdles his bass almost round his hips...

The band is looking back on 5 longplayers and 3 EPs, - enough to fill a whole show easily.

Whereby their latest release has come out already about 1 year ago. It's a fact, that The Living Acts deliver a first class show, groovy with a lot of movement. That's what a Rock'n'Roll concerts should be - a lot of entertainment produced by much talent.

Now I do understand, why there are so many people tonight here at this club to check out this - still independend band. I assume, it doesn't take much longer, until the band has established their reputation worldwide even better and play much bigger venues. They really deserve it thanks to this great quality. So whoever amongst you out there luv's firstclass punk and rockabilly cant do anything wrong checking out this lot. I can only advise you to have a go for The Living End.
This has been absolutey brilliant on the highest working class hero level...
Please come back soon from Down Under....
