Kult 8034 Germering b. München

Yeah well, it's a long time ago, this glory but short Rainbow time, when singer Graham Bonnet was the cool rockstar with sunglassen breaking all ladies hearts with his aura and brilliant voice. He, who made song like 'Since You've Been Gone' and 'All Night Long' to milestones. But it wasn't only Rainbow. There was also the job in the Michael Schenker Group in the Early Eighties, and most of all his very own band Alcatrazz, who he founded together with Gary Shea and Jimmy Waldo. This group is undoubtably connected with the name Bonnet. This band really shot to fame, when guitarists Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen joined in the middle of the Eighties.
After that Alcatrazz was put on ice for a long time, and Graham Bonnet kept on working with short living projects and on his own solocarriere. First in 2006 he recruited some young guys to bring Alcatrazz back to life. In the current line up you find guitarist Howie Simon, Bassist Tim Luce and drummer David Dzialak. Some of us might know guitarist and drummer from Jeff Scott Soto's background band.
Anyway, Germering is a small industrial town in the west of Munich, where apparently Rock'n'Roll seems to live up again. So bavarian rockers 'Bad Dog Bites' call this place their home town...

hang on -stop... if I remember right, these guys did support Y&T last summer at the Metropolis here in Munich. And now they once again support, but Alcatrazz 2009 fest. Graham Bonnet. I still can't tell you a lot about this band, as there is no biography or musician's name given on the official my space page. Only one thing is for sure. The boss of the local club 'Kult 8034' where this even is going ahead, is also the guitarist of this supportband.

well... Bad Dog Bites go for solid bavarian Rock'n'Roll - hard, groovy, but also bluesy, performed in classic white underwear and also with a cool delicious beer in a reahable distance - cheers. At some point two pretty rocker's bride join the band on stage and take care for the Sex and Drugs and Rock'n'Roll atmosphere on stage. In the middle of the set the beer is exchanged by some Johnny Walker, Red Label, which might do better for the image.
No we can't complain. It's funny, it's witty and amusing, what Bad Dog Bites is offering us. The only thing to complain about in here is the bad aircondition in here. I mean, I'm not a militant non smoker, but whatever is too much - is too much what's up to cigarette smoke and this at - fest +35 centograds in the limelight shade.

And what ever comes next now... makes me a little thinking...

Jesus wept... we all don't get any younger and more handsome over the years, but it does hurt to see the result of what was once named the most attractive Rock'n'Roll singer on the planet. And some of us ask ourselves: what happened to this guy. Well we never really get to know this I presume. But I think it's not a genetic matter. So let's face it: Rockstars as known, don't lead a very healthy lifestyle, do they?! And when you're not lucky, then it takes it's physical toll.
Let's put it that way. I would not have recognized Mr.Bonnet on a street agian. Whereby I myself got older with bands like Rainbow and Alcatrazz.

like mentionend in ths Review - thanks to enormous noise pollution, the voice is drowning in these clips....

The second thing tonight is the extreme noise. Christ, this is not an event for deaf people, is it?! And so the still phantastic voice of Graham Bonnet can almost not be heard. According to the explanation of the club owner, the band has pusted up the level themselves on stage. My ears have hardly ever suffered that much, and I'm definately not too sensitive. Not even earplugs help. At one point, I don't know where to stand anymore in here to catch a little better acoustic. Shame, because despite of beeing much older, Bonnet and his musicians ain't bad at all. But unfortunately the noise level destroys the enjoyment of the show. - What's up to the setlist, that one includes everything you could possibbly want including the 3 Rainbow classics from the Bonnet era.

Well, a powerful voice costs a lot of energy and including the enormous heat in here leads into half of a striptease. Yeah well, I mean, I have nothing against a beautiful man's body - I'm only a woman myself, - but in this case, - leaving on the shirt, would have been definately better...
Of course as we say so: music always comes first. But it's always also a little bit the visuall aspect... (Bad Dogs Bites know about this wither their two beauties on stage).
Graham Bonnet and Alcatrazz have definately been worth an experience. And under a little different circumstances, I could describe this show as well done... if you know what I mean...
