It's
almost 4 years now, that I've seen Lamb Of God last time live on Stage.
At that time it was with the Holy Alliance Tour together with Slayer,
Children Of Bodom and InFlames. Quite a long time, and some things have
changed since then, most of all the appearance itselves, which doesn't
happen is huge venue like like back then and in a opener position, but
this time in a smaller club beeing the headliner of the trek. Our
Backstage Werk is sold out once again...Jes.....!!!!! Tonight I presume,
not even an oil sardinas Size Zero would fit in anymore. That's why I
don't bother trying to film clips. The chances to have free sight onto
the stage are none existend, unless you had a very good standing
position from the beginning. But not for me, expet the time in the
photopit for catching some decent pictures.
And also once again, the scenery is dominated by a very youthful
audiance. Maybe not quite as young as the day before, when the Paganfest
took part in this venue, but the average age here is also below 25, I
guess. It is pretty obvious, that there is a complete new generation of
Hardrock/Metalfans growing up. A youth, who have no interest in those
old rockers of the eighties, seventies or even before, yeah well - exept
maybe AC/DC. These kids don't have long hair anymore and instead of
stupid headbanging they rather go for a pretty dangerous moshin in the
pit circle. Their idols are not much older, standing for this new
modern aggressivity, which is almost unbeatably. But because the
generell quality expectation of these fans ain't too high in the air,
it's not the most important fact. They ask for entertainment mainly to
waste themselves. Although some of these Metalcore bands do truly have
some talents, it often drowns in the average noise polution.
And that's exactly what the Opener ‚Between The Buried And Me’
provides...
This
band from Charlotte/Winston/Salem US shows clear structures and Jazz
elements in their kind of Heavy Metal. So this mixture is rather
interesting and gives the performance an intellectual touch. According
to reports, this formation has already reached a high standard in the
states. The current and seventh album 'The GReat Misdirect', which came
out last fall, has reached pos. 36 in the US Charts. And that's pretty
respectable for this kind of music. 'Between The Buried And Me, who's
name is taken from a Countring Crows song namend 'Ghost Train' ' are
celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.
This
band is certainly a name yet, but still have to establish themselves a
little more here in Europe. My analysis is a rather positive one on this
band - they are everything else, but certainly not bad at all....

Number two is 'Augst Burns Red' from Pennsylvania, who are going for 7
years no and have 3 allbums and 3 EPs out so far.
Christian
Metalcore it the expression what they use for their kind of music,
whatever that means. But well, live on stage, you don't catch any of
their lyrics anyway. So you have to actually study their CD sleeves to
get some clue. But be honest.... who is doing that???
Not my
cup of tea to be honest, because I can't figure out a clear structure as
well as no straight line. But howsoever... if the rhythm is right, the
moshing hits even harder. I for my part leave the rest to get som fresh
air outside the building inbetween.

Next
are Job For A Cowboy, who certainly have reached a certain status on the
Metalsky.
To
be honest, even beeing a musicjournalist for 25 years, I can't really
seperate a difference between Deathcore and Metalcore. Yeah well, maybe
I'm just too old for it. Holy shite, I've grown up with Deep Purple and
the Rolling Stones, but I'm really willing to learn the fine lines
between all these countless musical styles. As far as we can talk about
music. You've gotta have a lot of understanding and love for this, - I
mean - a hell of a lot of understanding. But because I'm a very curious
person I like to learn and listen, just to get the clue about the
philosophy of this draw. And yes, I confess, I do a little bit hard....
