Well, there is one thing I can tell you immidiately. If I got 10 Euro's for every time I've seen Saxon live on Stage within the past 30 years, then I could easily take another 3 weeks Hawaii vacation staying either at the 5 Stars Waikoloa Village Hilton on Big Island or at the Westin Maui.  Okay, okay, I don't wanna make any hidden ads here, though mind me, I can only advise you warmly to both adresses.
Anyway back to the subject. And seriously, I truly soon consider some sort of additional bonus for all my countley photocalls at shows of Biff Byford and Co. But although I do know their liveshows like my left pants pocket and even better, in one point I can be a 100% sure . These oldies are still offering us a solid good concert, nothing new really but all these evergreens like 'Crusader', 'Wheels Of Steel', 'Strong Arm Of The Law' and of course 'Denim & Leather', just to name a view, let us forget every day's lethargy. And all we old and young generation  are undertaking a marathone in headbanging physio theraphy. By the way, I mention conciously young and old, as it is a fact, that our Golden Gir.. oh sorry... Boys up there have reached an age beyond 50+ and even almost 60. So it is indeed respectable that they pull so many 18 to 25 year old as well. But actually that's the point, many older classic rockbands can book for themselves. Many of their songs have become to never dying evergreens, songs you can sing along with also in a 30 or 50 years future distance. This is something what you don't find easily anymore at this new band generation, and of course no cultstatus anymore. Why? It's easy! 1) In these times now
, there is no time to develope any individuality, mainly because of financial reasons, and 2) there are so many more bands nowadays, that the risk is high to drown somewhere in the middle or just don't get enough attention.
But of course there are many good new bands, Bands who are here today and gonne tomorrow. As known - to discover a raw diamond ain't that easy. And if so, then it has to be cut the right way. But back then in the good old times, these kind of diamonds were just everywhere, and they gave themselves the right cut. Saxon for instance had 34 years so far to do so. And to be honest, it doesn't look like, as if they are landing as a diamond collier in a safe of the bank of New Caledonia  for good - soon.
For now, the bird has landed in Munich, the first gig of a new crusade rolling like a solid ball of rock.

Support kcomes from Big Ball from  Baden-Würtemberg here in Germany.

And now it's getting a bit difficult. Because there are quite a few bands here in Germany with the same or similar name. And even I did a bit hard to find the right website belonging to our Big Ball here. And yes of course, all these bands including this one here, are holding up the spirit of AC/DC. And these one's here confess immidiately, that they are going and standing for AC/DC, though they are not a cover band, but playing their own songs. Singer Thomas has personally drawn quite a cut within his own carriere as he rather went for Death Metal in the past with his project Debauchery - still does in a way. No clue, why he decided to go for a more Hardrock style now.
In each case it seems a fact, that tonight is his first show with Big Ball. That's how I understood his announcements up there. In every case, these guys leave rather mixed feelings in me, not only because of their huge similarity to AC/DC. It also seems it takes the singer a huge effort to press out the words, and his face exchanges it's teint from a posh pale nuance to a red plush up. Big Ball present us songs from their debutalbum 'Hotter Than Hell', and it's not only that their musical style is like AC/DC, it's also that their own songs all sound somehow the same.

Yeah well, you could say the same about Aribourne, who had been here a few days before next door, and also showed us their relation to AC/DC. But the small fine difference between them and our boys here is, that there is a hell of an action on stage at an Airbourne show, and they pull their audiance into the eye of the hurricane. But here there is nothing going on up there, apart from the musical performance. Don't get me wrong please, of course - music comes first. But even the music is great, everything is useless, if the vibe is not right. Hey we are not at a static Death Metal concert here, but this is Rock'n'Roll!!!! I say only: rollin', rollin', rollin'... got it?! Move boys, move.... put some pepper into your music and your bodies. And you will see, then the audianc will move along as well. You better bet so....

Spots on for  Saxon for the 75th time (or is it the 76th Show)???

And hmmmm... what shall I say about this flag boot of this New Wave Of Heavy metal back then. Even the size of the venues is still the same , exept the band is playing with other great's like Motörhead or whosoever. But going on tour on their own Saxon usuall fill a club with aprox. 1.000 fans, whereby this doesn't mean - sold out. That's the situation here at the Theaterfabrik in Munich tonight. I presume there are about 700 people here well mixed of an older generation like myself mixed with some young vegetable. These don't wear anymore these typical placative metal jackets, but only may be a Logo T-Shirt. And these youngsters think that old fasion long hair style is pretty antique. But you may practice this old fashion Heavy Metal style as our luvable oldies of Saxon stand above all that
and go themselves for this visuall Hardrock Dino Haute Couture. And here we are with their big bonus, mentioned in the beginning of this review. And that's all these evergreens, beeing fixed inside the Hard Rock History book, and which never get outta fashion. I'm talking about ‚Power And The Glory’, 747 Strangers In The Night’ or ‚And The Band Played On’…. and in a double meaning: ‘Never Surrender’.

The magic word is nostalgy at all these old rockers. And is such a nostalgic mood we are tonight, at least the one's who have seen this band already 30 years ago live on stage, like me, or even at earlier times. Compared to the youth who is here, inspired by their parents or via media, and who just gets infected by the generell enthusiasm, receiving Saxon as their newly discovered love for Classic Hardrock.

Mind me, there is actually one little change on this trip. Unfortunately bassist Nibbs Carter can't take part at this due to serious family reasons (official Statement). Therefore Yenz Leonhardt (Kingdom Come, Lacrimosa) jumped in to help out on this tour. But don't worry, Nibbs will be back sooner or later. However, Yenz does pretty well in his replacement job, although he doesn't show such a self confidence as Nibbs does. But this of course is understandable. Or he just wants to stay a little back and out of the limelight.

For us photographers the light conditions are miserable again. Not, that there is too less light. But when all lights only come from the back, shining only onto the backs of the musicians, and I start swearing, because I don't have sunglasses on hand, then my cam also starts complaining and defends itselves against a correct measuring. In the end I win the battle against my cam, though not on all pics. Time is short for the photocall like usual, and afterwards the same new rule comes up - off we go for good. At this point I say thank you to the management and tourmanager for their help to be able to watch the whole show.

Apart from that , there is not much more to say. Saxon like always, Paul Quinn and Doug Scarrett doing their usual guitar battle and you hear more of what you see of drummer Nigel Glockler. But that's okay. And there is of course good old Biff, turning 60 this year, who shows the youth a hell of a lot what's up to the generell condition. No, you can say what you want about these english guys, but not that they are a rusty old shipwreck.
Like I said before: it's a solid ball of Rock no more no less and this for the 87th... or is it only the 46th time??? I don't give a damn...and never mind.... it's only Rock'n'Roll and we still like it....
