Finally!!!! It's taken now long enough for our Enfant terribles of Punk to return to Munich. It's been five years, the Scots have neclected us. Wattie the man with the most creative hairstyle doesn't exactly know himself, why, because he and his band had been constantly on the road since back then. It's probably only bad luck, that Munich was never on the tour rider. Long talks short sense, the Exploited always have had the reputation to be the wildest and badest punkband of all. They were harder and absolutely no compromising as the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones. The Exploited around Wattie Buchan don't make a Happy Go Lucky Fun Punk. This here is Hardcore - got me?! And this in such a way, that most Metal bands seem like church choirboys compared to them. It's a fact, that this punkcombo  of the second generation and their Hymn  'Punk's Not Dead' went no.1 in Punkrock circles. Mr.Buchan himself frequently went into the critics of beeing a friend of sterotypes. That's probably because in the eighties many Neo Nazis were also fans of the Exploited. Wattie himself denies any relation to such a thing. And also his music doesn't show any sign fortunately. Although his figure stays a rather contrere person in the punkscene.
In 2005 the Backstage Halle was sold out and photographing became a risk for life. Tonight it's a little different, as the Backstage Werk, which does carry 1.200 units, is only filled with about 400 fans. Can't tell why. Let's call it the wrong time at the wrong place or is it rather due to the fact, that the band had been so long away from here.  we won't get to know exactly. But at least due to a photopit, there ain't wild stage diving or other trouble. And I can take my visual impressions in peace.

Number One comes from Michigan, USA  and is named -  Al & The Black Cats.

And I think I can remember fairly, that I've seen this group once before. As their name says, Al & The Black Cats are going for Rockabilly Sound, but a very hard one with some punk elements. Wauw, the contrabass is dancing a tscha tscha tscha, played by Hugh by the way. Arno sits behind the drumkit and Tony handles the rest - singing and guitar playing and trying to settle a new record in high jumps. By the way, for everyone who is asking now where Al is. Well this guy has settled down now. Our three boys here were originally the background band for Al Krivoy. But when Al realized that all the girls came only for the other 3 guys, he left to give 'em more space.

They put out 3 albums since 2006, which are: 'The Fabulous Rockabilly Sounds Of' & 'Shakin' At The Knees' and 'Givin' Um Something to Rock & Roll About'. And they introduce us to music of all records. It's not only me realizing that this here is truly good stuff. And it's fast and pushes up into the stratosphere with longing for much more. And that's what we get....

Number Two are the Adicts from Ipswich, England.

And they name themselves the longest existing punkband in the original line up. Mind me, that's 35 years. Respect, not many acts can say so. At their birth in 1975,  the group named himself first 'Afterbirth' and later on 'Pintz'. In the year 1977 they were inspired by Stanley Kubriks movie 'Clockwork Orange' and they renamed themselves into Adicts. But because there were already a band with the name Addicts, they just dropped on d out of the name. The band members took their style and look - white clothes and white/black make up for their faced also from Clockwork Orange. - Their backcatalogue shows 11 studioalbums and some Best of's... and Compilations, whereby the latest longplayer with the meaningfull name 'Life Goes On' has been released last year. But the focus of this band is definately their frontman Keith 'Monkey' Warren, who appears in a sparkling fancy look. And this clown transfers the Backstage Werk into a colourful bonfire with lots of confetti explosions.

Maybe some of you here in Germany can remember the Adicts, when they supportet the Toten Hosen last year. But of course beeing a support act you don't have all the possibillities for a varialbe show, one Monkey just puts out right now. He and his guys go for a rather melodic, funny punk rock, which is not mean but really curious. Yes we luv it, and as photographer it's all fun to shoot pics of that.

The Adicts do get accepted also by all the Exploited Fans, and the Backstage celebrates one huge Party, in such a way, that the venue looks worth that the battlefield of Waterloo.

And our local Stagehands may show their talents as domestics to clean up the place for the Exploited.

And last but not least  Wattie rolls along, recognizalbe immidiately on his red Irokese haircut, which became a brand for the band from almost the beginning.

Compared to the Adicts, there is only Wattie left from the original line up. But never mind. Because to get it straight: Wattie is the Exploited, and the Exploited are Wattie first of all. Today the band consists apart from Wattie  also of his brother Willie on drums, Irish Bob on bass and newbe Matt on guitar. And though the latest studioalbum 'Fuck The System' is out now for seven years the band has not suffered any of their attractivity. And Wattie shows bright and clear what his opinion about all those pseudopunk baggers are - like Green Day and The Offspring for instance. He gives a fuck about comercial things and just to become famous because of the financial aspect. Most important is, that the message comes across the right way and direction and the cultstatus stays save.

Therefore Wattie knocks us out with no mercy and 'Fuck The System' standing for Anarchy and Chaos, like it should do at an Exploited show. Well I doubt it, that all 400 kiddies in here undstand exactly what he's singing. Because none other celebrates the scottish dialect so intensively as Wattie does. And although I have spend 5 years in Great Britain, even I do hard to understand everything at once. I guess the language of the Hope indians ain't much worse.

However, the place is boiling, not quite as wild as last time, but I presume that's not so much up to the lack of audianc, but more due to the
pit, as mentioned before, where many guardian angel watch out and take care for peace. And of course we get the no.1 song 'Punk's Not Dead' Oh damn, what I'm talking about. The living prove is up there giving his angry comments about society, politics and economy in this world, and he does it very well -  like always.

One thing's for sure. The Exploited turn the world still upside down in the truest sense of the word, though there ain't no international hitlists or anything like it. And there is still no new album in sight. But Wattie says, that he's working on it, and eventually it will be out. Never mind, fans only wanna hear the cultsongs anyway at a show. And without 'Punk's Not Dead' an Exploited gig wouldn't be an Exploited show - Amen.
