Almost
unbelievable, that this swedisch Hardrock group named Fatal Smile is
already going since 1994. Of course first of all we gonna ask ourselves,
where have they been over all these years. Well the only explanation
would be, that they never could free themselves from the native
underground scene, And as known this again is not up to a lack of high
quality products, but also a little lack of luck.
Guitarist Yüksel Unutmaz founded his baby back home in Katarinenholm,
but soon moved to Stockholm, where he changed immidiately the nappies,
or what we call the band line up.
In 2002 The debutalbum 'Beyond Reality' is out followed by the 2006
release 'New Natural Freaks' After that Yüksel stopped the and again,
just to reform them one year later with once again new guys. With singer
Blade, bassist Alex and Drummer Zteff he recorded the new album 'World
Domination' and therefore he gets producer Michael Wegener, who worked
already with Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and Metallica. This CD came
out past february.
Live on stage we had Fatal Smile here when they supported Lordi on their
last european tour. The band has also been in America twice so far. -
Anyway, time to come back for some european continental dates, which
unfortunately have not been enough promoted. Although you could think,
that the Swedes have won some popularity through their supportslot with
Lordi. But as we know, this tour didn't do well either. - But there
ain't no increased popularity level, because for the Munich concert only
about 30 people have found their way to the Garage Rockclub. Yeah well,
maybe I should mention yet another soccer finale match pulling thousends
in fron of their telly instead of a concert venue. . But that's surely
not the only reason for this emptyness. Let's get it straight.
Mentioning the name Fatal Smile outside Sweden, too many are still
asking: who?

Also it doesn't go down too
well, showing off too many moods. For instance by stretching out the
show start for ages, in hope, that there will be some more fans showing
up. But they don't, so in the end after a long wait, the swedish
glammer boys start their set around 9.30 p.m. to stop our inpatience.
But even that can go wrong, most of all, when the boss of the club ain't
here personally. In fact, Fatal Smile play in complete darkness for
about 15 minutes, 'till someone comes along and does show the sound man
where the lights are. Taking pictures without flashligh becomes almost
impossible. But in the end, it works out, at least with some spare light.
But
our sunnyboys still can't manage to let their sexy aura rain on us very
few souls here. Whereby they think, that they are soooo attractive. (some
females go for it for sure and increase their egos) Let's put it that
way: Fatal Smile fill in every clichee you possibly can get in this
glam- or hairmetal business including oxygene blonde long hair, black
fingernails and fancy lipstics, freshly importad from thei Eighties LA
Rock Scene. O gosh... ain't we beautiful?!!! :-)
(no you tube clips, as guitarist Yüksel did not want any to be filmed.
And
of course his request is respected.
Musically Fatal Smile go for
the same strategy like their american idols from the glammer times.
Nothing new, but still good enough to listen and rock along. But on the
other hand - not, when someone does his job so emotionless and
without any pleasure like this band does it right now. (I don't want to
mention the lack of sound in here either). And that's not
necessarely called professional. Because if they would be, they' d still
beat down a hell of a bonfire up there. But in our case, the whole magic
sounds rather weak. And maybe that's also a reason, why even Munich's
Rock'n'Roll Ladies don't move up to the very front.Well then - so the
prince has got to come down to the Chicks.
You
can turn it any way, but somehow the whole scenery does seem not from
this world, although guitarist Yüksel says after show: "well, it's
only Rock'n'Roll, who cares..."
Yes of course it is, But it has still been a rather weak show in every
way. Bad sound, bad mood and no party at all. Sorry Boys, but your gig
here in Munich has gonne down the drain.
