There is
nothing more worth then a constant change in life, also in music. And so
we dedicate this page here to the one and only classic Krautrock of the
early Seventies. So who could be better for that, then Munich's local
act Amon Düül II.
Just for short explanations, I wanna mention, that from the ashes of
Amon Düül with their frontgril Uschi Obermeier, - Amon Düül II
developed fronted by Chris Karrer. While the original Amon Düül were a
complete experimenting and improvising group, Düül II put their focus
more onto the musical content. Long talk, short sense, if I'd tell you
here the complete history of both Amon Düül periods, it'd smah every
frame. So I spare that bit out as this here should be a live review and
no biopic.
Back to the action, it is indeed a fact, that Amon Düül II are
celebrating a home coming party here at the Metropolis, accompanied by
yet another Krautrock legend named Bröselmaschine. But there is a
little shade above this event, and that's the fact, that this is the
very last event within this venue, before it closes down for good. I
feel a little sorry, as I've got tons of memories of great concerts in
here. Well this chapter will be closed after tonight.
There are 500 guests here, and most of them are freaks from this era,
who have experienced Amon Düül back then in the Seventies live on
Stage. I for my part had been too young back then, and I lived in
a little village in the mountains, far away from the krautrock scene.
Thanks to the cultural heritage, each of us has got the possibillity to
catch up with all these artists and get a bit of a clue what they are
all about. And because the death have got the longest life we
still do enjoy all these fossils from time to time.
And such a Dino is opening the nostalgic evening of this classic
atmosphere.

Bröselmaschine do come
from the same era as Amon Düül II and are fronted by Peter Bursch (as
shown above)Next to him, Willi Kissmer, Michael Dommers, there are also
bandmembers Helge Schneider (who's not here tonight) Tom Plötzer (Keyb.),
Manni Von Bohr (Drums) Detlef wiederhöft (Bass), Klaus Dapper (flut/Sax.)
and Anja Lerch (voc). Most bandmembers lived in a commune in the city of
Duisburg and did belong to the very first german rockbands. Since back
then there have been many line up changes and reunions. In may 2008 the
band has put out a new DVD and one CD.On this disc you find cuts from
festival shows and a Rockpalace concert in Bonn including interviews
etc. - So well, it's about time to go on stage . So what should I say?
Not much, exept I'm pretty positively surprised at their performance
tonight in Munich.

There is a hell of
musicality, most of all Peter Bursch himself, who also plays the Sitar
inbetween. Every child knows, how difficult this instrument is to play,
exept your name is Bursch. We also get a brilliant drumsolo of Manni
Von Bohr ,
who also plays in the Randy Hansen Band. Respect of so much talent.
The most impressing
aspect is the fact, that not one single second gets boring of this
drumsolo. And that means something, as we all know, that it can get a
bit akward with too long drum solos.
It's not only me but all other Amon Düül fans here, who do like
Bröselmaschine and their performance very much. I assume, it's the
other way round as well, and the band has got a positive feeling about
their show here. So let's hope and see, whether these guys find their
way again to Munich as long as they exist.

After 28 years Amond Düül really put out a
new studoalbum entitled 'Bee As Such'

Currently you find
the record on the band's
Site
for a download purchase. Later this year it will be released as a normal CD and
Vinyl as well. This new album includes the whole line up since 'Vortex' in
1981. And with this show tonight the legend shall get honoured, memories live
up and the spirit gets reanimated. Amon Düül II 2010 are still Renate Knaup (Voc),
Lothar Meid (Bass(Voc) John Weinzierl (git/Voc) Chris Karrer (Git, fiddle,
Sax.voc), Danny Fichelscher (Drums), Jan Kahlert (Perc.) and Gerard Carbonell
(Bass) Heading out for the slogan: we never get that young together again,
that's how the old line up got back again. Whereby I've got to say, that
founder member Lother Stein is only coming on stage for 3 songs, as he's still
not completely recovered from his long illness. That's how Mrs. Knaup explains
it to the audiance. In fact, before this even it wasn't even sure, whether
Lothar could come at all.
But
he has come, and that's what counts most, never mind how he appears. 1 :
0 for him. The rest of the show is played by Gerald Carbonell on the
four strings. And the keyboardist is introduced as: this guy is so new,
that we even don't know his surname, only his frist name - Jockl.
Many of the audiance here are friends and relatives of the Amon Düül
musicians, and they do hail 'em a lot up there. Not so much amusing is
the fact, that the soundtechnician apparently ain't able to create a
perfect acoustic, and he constantly gets orders from stage about what's
to loud or to low or can't be heard at all, like one monitor box.
