It's been almost exactly 2 years now, that the former leader of Creedance Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty had been in Munich at the Zenith venue. And remembering this event leaves some mixed feelings as it was rather short with an obviously very moody artist. And that's why some of us, who had been at this concert are somehow suspicious tonight. No supportact again, but Mr. Fogerty doesn't need any, does  he?
Tonight we are at the Musicarena (a tent) on the annual Summer Tollwood Festival at Munich's Olympic Park. Just to repeat myself from other occassions here, - events at the Tollwood always start very early at 7 p.m. as they must be finished at 10 due to town authorities.
In our case tonight, show time is set for 8.30 p.m. thanks to the missing supportact. But the start is once again postboned for 30 minutes, so the audiance is starting to become inpatient. Yeah well, it's about time, ain't it. And it is indeed with one big bang.- However 3 minutes
John Fogerty live is enough to forget the anger of the late take off. And the anger is translating itselves into euphoric enthusiasm immidiately. Halleluja, to get it straight, - between the show 2 years ago and tonight there are not only worlds apart but a whole universe.

I mean, this man, already 65 years of age, has somehow jumped back acrosse an age gap. He's sparkling  of great mood and energy. He is surrounded by a very young band, who is underlining this fresh vibe. And of course Fogerty himself, who presents himself as the focus of the magic here. Yes of course, he as a musician has reached everything what can be reached: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame mit CCR, then the Grammy for Blue Moon Swamp, the Orville Gibson Lifetime-Award, furthers a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the intoduction into the songwriter's hall of. So John Fogerty has definately written Rock'n'Roll  History and not too bad at all. Tonight we get a big part of this backcatalog offered.

The audiance, mainly an elderly generation, who have experienced the big time of CCR  with  Proud Mary’, ‚Bad Moon Rising’ etc. are having a nostalgic time here and sing along to all these well known tunes. And those are aprox. 4.000 fans of all ages. It is very hot in here, too hot, thanks to the current summer heat, but noone is bothered, because what John Fogerty and his band is performing up there is simply phantastic, not only what the band is playing but also how they are performing. Some of these tunes have got some brilliant guitar solos of Fogerty, though he takes definately care, that his band gets some attention as well. Inbetween he walks out on the catwalk and even shakes hands with the audiance.

And he is telling us some good words to the lost semi final at the soccer world championships, running across the stage with a germany flag. This is honestly soul palm  for some die hard soccer fans and the sympathy for Fogerty increases every second. The nicest thing is, that compared to last time at the Zenith, the band is playing more than 2 hours and no lack of condition. The setlist reads  like the who is who, or better what is what. And I think everybody gets happy  here.

There is only one song not beeing played, which I dearly miss personally, and this is: 'I Put A Spell On You' an old Blues number, which has been covered by many artists. But the version of CCR is the very best in my opinion. But as I said, that's a rather personal thing and doesn't matter here. It's a fact, there ain't not even a little bit to criticise on this show here, as it is just absolutely great.

And that's why I tell everybody to go out and see John Fogerty live on this tour if you got another chance, you definately won't regret it....
