Let's take it straight. Jimmie Vaughan had never, is never and never will break out of the shade of his almighty younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, who has passed away much too early. Though it was in fact Jimmie who taught Stevie in younger years how to play guitar. The reason, why Stevie always got more respect and notice and found cultstatus, ain't really clear. Because the talents of both brothers have been on a pretty same level. - Stevie Ray died much too early in 1991 at a helicopter crash. And indeed there is only one record both brothers made together entitled: 'Family Style' which came out in 1990 and received a Grammy Award as Best Contemporary Blues album. After Stevie's death Jimmie Vaughan turned his back to the musicbusiness for quite a while until he released his solo debut entiteled 'Strange Pleasures' in 1994. This was followed by 'Out There' (1998) and 'Do You Get The Blues?' (2001). In 1997 a so called Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex-Stratocaster had been developed. Vaughan  played in the movie 'Blues Brothers 2000' in 1998. And he i a good friend of actor Dennis Quaid, with whom he workedin the Jerry Lee Lewis Movie 'Great Balls Of Fire'.

In 2006 Jimmie toured mainly supporting Bob Dylan in the USA and yet tried again to fix his status. The multiple Grammy Winner is also a passionate car collector. Meanwhile Jimmie Vaughan is 59 years of age and has become another father of twins a few years ago. And he also has just released his first new album in nine years, entitled  ‚Plays Blues, Ballads & Favorites’, which he is now promoting, also in Europe.

But Jimmie Vaughan is suffering as many other Bluesrock talents under the fact, that despite he is an established artist within the Blues Genre, he doesn't get noticed much from the average world wide music world. Call it trends of the last years, a change of generations, the musicbiz itselves... and there are many more reasons, why Jimmie plays most of his gigs here in Germany in small clubs in front of 200 or so - fans and not in big arenas in front of thousands...And believe me, he'd really deserve it. But we still have to bake small bread over here, - as we say so.

And so Jimmie shared the stage with his Tilt-A-Whirl band and later on with Bluessinger Lou Ann Barton. Because as he says so, singing has never been his biggest strenght. Although I have to say, and I think, I'm talking in many people's sense, Jimmie's voice doesn't sound that bad. By the way, Jimmie and Lou Ann have already worked together in the Fabulous Thunderbirds. And she held the microphone in Triple Threat feat. Stevie Ray Vaughan. So it stays within the family.

The first part of the show is dominated by Jimmie as frontman only. First of the second part Lou Ann Barton come up. The 56 year old artist, also from Texas, can look back on a solid solocarriere. She was discovered by none other than Glenn Frey from the Eagles at a New York Club. Her 1982 debutalbum 'Old Enough' went in the MTV Charts as the only debut album of the year. Also her name is depended on the Blues scene only. In each case, Barton and Vaughan go on together very well what's up to the vocal work and Jimmie's guitar playing.

At least within the Munich audiance, there are many young guests, another prove, that the young generation is still going for the Blues, - at least some of them. The magic starts with 'Comin And Goin' a selfpenned instrumental and continues in all these excellent Blues tunes, including the brilliant 'Sugar Coated Love' and of course 'Bomm Bapa Boom'. No honestly, nobody here can complain about anything, exept the almost unbearable heat. But most of us don't feel that one due to this great performance of the Tilt-A-Whirl band. And getting an experience like this here, there is still hope, that the blues will survive maybe another generation... yeah well and maybe even onemore.... who knows.
