My dear
friends, I have often said that before, that I'm always very happy after
so many years and even more bands and artist, when I see someone playing
live on stage, I haven't seen playing before. And believe me, this
doesn't happen too often anymore. Most artists I've checked out as a
musicjournalist quite a few times before. Not that it's getting boring
or so, because no concert is like the next one by the same group. But of
course the challenge is missing and you always know fairly what to
expect. With Royal Republic, a rather new Rock'n'Roll band from Sweden,
I do not know what I'm getting here. Because as you know, between music
on a CD and a live appearance it's sometimes worlds apart. So let's go
and see what we are getting here in a minute.
One more word to this outfit from the country of the krona, Carl Gustaf
, Sweden Rock and whatsoever, who were founded in 2007 and who's members
are just right in the middle of their Twenties. So we got one of these
new generation Rock'n'Roll Bands here. But they don't present the world
one more version of depressive alternative tunes or New Metals, but they
rather go for straight through the bone - Energy Rock with a touch
of punk. It's nothing really new,but it pulls your Granny out of her
rockin' chair and get's her third teeth shaking, if you what I mean by
that. But let's face it. That's what a great Rockshow is all about....
So hold on and start from the beginning.... Royal Republic consist of
lead singer Adam Grahn.....
Guitarist Hannes Irengård, Schlagzeuger Per
Andreasson.and
Bassist Jonas Almén
Obviously
the famous sparkle must have exploed between each other immidiately.
Because their debut album 'We Are Royal' has got exactly the right
ingrediants, which makes a Party-Rock'n'Roll longplayer shooting straight
into our ears, without beeing too commercial. And our Rock'n'Roll new
generation proves, that it doesn't need long hair and logoshirts to
present themselves the right way. No these boys underline their name and
music with a designershirt, a Dandy Haircut and a true stylish touch. So
nothing wrong about this.
By the way, the band had been here before in Germany supporting the donats
on their tour in spring. But as everybody know, Supportbands usually don't
get that much attention. So despite a few concious kids in the audiance,
the rest didn't really go for them in first place. But thanks to Royal
Republic's debut CD 'We Are Royal' which came out in spring as well. So
hey, it's about time to get your wings stretched out for a major flight.
Well this here ain't yet a - faster then the speed of sound invasion, but
they got the right flight direction with this clubtour - as headliner of
course. Our Backstage Club here in Munich has got the honour to welcome
our highness. and about 200 Munich kids came for the audition, most of all
some Beauty Queens, who are fighting for the best spots in the front row
to catch as much as possible of singer Adam's sexappeal.
But first of all it's 'Plus Guest' tuning up the young audiance here...
It
is indeed pretty funny to use the generell +guest as a bandname. But their
set is more or less rather a matter of individual tastes and likes. The
french guys are trying their best to catch up with everybody's attention,
but they can only manage some of it, as many fans can't associate with
their musical style. Their music goes more for a progressive alternative
direction. And so they are putting in a lot of energy as well, the magic
doesn't really jump from the stage onto the crowd. If you still wanna know
more about Plus Guest then go to: http://www.myspace.com/plusguestmusic
And then it's time for the Royals to present themselves to us. And they
are welcomed by a mostly female chorus....
It’s
Showtime friends, and our swedish punkrocker's obviously show attention to
lift the globe out of it's angle. Yeah maybe it's only our 4 walls here,
but that's more than enough for now. And they are doing it with such an
enthusiasm, that even the last wood-worm postbones it's winter sleep to 3
days ago. Yiippiieehh this is pure fun - finally we got a new, young band
here, who show the right image and hold what their reputation already
promised. And compared to many other artists, who are taking things too
seriously Royal Republic are taking things easy, just go for it with wild
Rock'n'Roll including even some comedy elements.
And
as we say so: you always get back, what you are giving first. Royal
Republic are giving a lot, maybe because of the fact, that they have only
one album out so far. And this is, as we know not enought to fill a whole
show usually.
But the Swedes can manage easily, whereby frontman Adam is
the focus of the entertainment aspect. He puts out the most energy with a
hell of a selfconfidence, passing it on to the rest of the band,
transfering it further on to the audiance.
And when Adam and drummer Per
take off their shirts, all girls here don't just fall on their knees, but
give away the last bit of their innocence.

unfortunately th setliste was

Assasin Of Love)
But apart
from the visual Boy-Band Effekt, Royal Republic
truly do understand their jobs and let their instruments do a Salsa
dance. And the drumkit gets knocked out.Another highpoint is reached
at the song 'Underwear', when such clothes come up sailing onto
stage. Jes.... when have I seen such a thing last time? Adams is
picking up Eva's panties and presents them like a trophy, asking at
the same time, whether these bit and pieces are used or not. Of
course just worn, some girls confirm loudly from down there almost
embarrassed.
Of
course it's all clichee, but it belongs to this Rock'n'Roll party
here, though it ain't neccessary. But as long as the music is great and
the performance brilliant, all this is just the icing on the cake and a
whole lotta fun - just how a Rock'n'Roll Party should be....
Carry n boys - I definately want to see you again over here.... http://www.royalrepublicband.com/
