Melodic Rock is dead, long live Melodic Rock - Yeah well so what?! To get it straight - I don't like this expression at all. Rockmusic is Rockmusic, sometimes soft, sometimes hard. It's all a matter of individual tastes - That's what we could think. And the rest is made up with the right promotion, trends and a huge portion of luck. Let's face it, even Bands such as Journey and Styx are only a shade of themselves nowadays, compared to the glory days back then. But if the first mentioned guys would jump across their own egos and get Steve Perry back in the saddle, Journey would be the absolute superstars again in the US from one moment to the other. And this my friends has nothing to do with the music in the first place, if you know what I mean.
But to get back to the point of our review, I wanna say, that Michael Bormann is indeed a name within the circles and our country. But to stick out of the clubscene much more as a musicial individual it takes more than just a great talent and loveable charme...and his own brand.

He would deserve it anyway, as his vocal high c still shows a huge potential of quality. It's rather the circumstances, which don't fit into the current ideal situation. On the other hand, we're pleased that Mr.Borman is actually still around and is here tonight, as this whole concert trip had been cancelled already once last year. But now he's here with his new band and aunty is the big generell taking care of things and business. So nothing can go wrong anymore, I'd guess. Within our Garage club about 100 souls have gathered, some of them sitll remembering Bormann's time within Jaded Heart.- (but they could have taken a newer photo of him for the poster and the current release, that's for sure. I mean beeing 45 of age, ain't that old, is it?!)
No support act given and show time is set for 8.30 p.m. (thanks to the promoter, my beauty sleep is secured for this night) The Bormann band is: Andreas Rippelmeier (git)(Michael Bormann, Heavenward) , Barish Kepic (Git) (Jaded Heart, Powerworld), Guilde Gallus (Drums)
Chris Ivo (Keyb.) (Jaded Heart, The Sygnet, Doro) Ilker Ersin (Bass) (Powerworld, Freedom Call) and the boss himself - Michael Bormann. -

These guys do play well together, no doubt about that. And when Michael anounces: "now another song is coming", then this fact is commented up there with a pseudo cool: "not true, is it?!" - Only the average posing up there is pretty much senseless, as the lights in this club seem to be fed by no more than about 10 watt. And those again swallow the neat double chin of our Tom Jones of Melodic Rock. Well, on the other hand, noboday bothers, exept the photographic eye of myself. Most important is the excellent tune and nothing else. And that one again includes the whole spectrum of Bormann's back catalogue and some Jaded Heart rhapsodies. (check setlist below).....

...which doesn't leave any wishes open... well at least most of them :-) Satsifaction guaranteed what's up to Melodic Rock and smoothies for our ears and the eyes gets some goodies as well at least for all those girls in the frontrow. And it doesn't even cost any calories... as I have often described this phenomenen before... - acoustic performance included....

Not much more to say here and last but not least - it's been nice what's up to this posh and sophisticated Rock'n'Roll entertainment, which we got offered tonight with lots of humor and this take it easy attitude - including an extensive photoshoot after show asking for - who is the most photogenic person within this circle...?! I for my part have already got some sort of idea...:-))))))
