Well, for
this band, this satureday here in Munich ain't their day for sure. And
this has nothing to do with the 6 or 7 hours drive with handycaps they
have behind, as singer Andy is telling the audiance during the show.
It's weekend as well. Nobody has to get up early next morning for work
or so.. And there ain't another event of that kind at same time here in
this town. But.... there is one thing, of what neither band nor promoter
have thought of. And that one take care, that there are only about 80 -
100 people in here to check 'em out. Not a cheap ticket price nor a
satureday doesn't help. And I truly ask myself, which idiot has had the
grand idea to put a rockconcert like this onto this night. Because
no my dear friends - not even jesus could compete with the FC Barcelona
and Manchester United standing in the championsleague cup final at
Wembley in London. Exspecially, when you find a big open air screen just
outside the venue to check this match outö. I for my part have a photocontract in my pocket, but it doesn't keep me away from splitting myself into 2 halfs, as I'm a huge Barca fan. And you can be sure, if there weren't this big screen, I'd definately have brought my pocket radio with headphones along. So sorry mates, if I don't share my full attention with you tonight, but as we say so - that's fate. Neverdream have started their Set, before I have arrived. And thanks to the rather early start at 8 p.m. I can check this lot out still in peace. Those Italiens, who are from Rome, have started their carriere about 7 years ago and have released 4 CDs so far. The latest longplayer 'Said' came out last year. And I guess, Neverdream are not here, to promote a new product, but rather simply took the chance to support Vanden Plas on their dates. They are going for progressiv rock, as well as the headliner. It's a rather complex sound cloud with some extraordinary structures, which develops into an endless bandworm... For friends of this musical style, this may be pretty interesting. I for my part, though the performance has definately got some certain standard and potention, can't help the nonstop feeling of... - I've gotta push 'em - somehow... to get it straight.. I do miss the petrol inside a engine a bit, if you know what I mean by that.... Apart from that,
it does seem so, as the 6 times a dozen and some more guest do like what
they get here...And that's what counts in the end...
Almost unbelievable, that this band has got already quarter of a century on their backs. Within this time they gave birth to 7 albums, one live recording, 3 singles and one EP (correct me if I'm wrong). And same here - the release of the latest album named The Seraphic Clockwork was sometime last year. Another curiosity is the fact, that Vanden Plas seems to be much more famous in France fro instance, than here in their home country. Apart from that they are often guests on american progrock festivals. But now and then there is some time left to take care, not to get lost in Germany. And they are not even 30 minutes right on stage, when Barcelona shoots the first goal in Wembley, and delightment is big, even it's only for 7 minutes, until Manchester get their goal as well. But the audiance inside the club don't dig this. And that's okay so, because otherwise Vanden Plas would would do a solo stint for themselves in here. |
Meanwhile out
in front of the screen, about double the amount of people have gathered
as inside. Vanden Plas try hard, keep the few fans entertained with
their kind of Progrock. But what I'm telling you here... Compared to the
supportact, they can at least manage to make the sparkle jump across and
there is no pushing needed. The Musical experienced group deliver a
decent gig here no doubt, despite of some meaner sound lacks.
53. minute: - 2 :1 ffor Barca thanks to Lionel (iI luv you)
Messi... and from now on there's a party going on out there... Bad day today for a concert... to repeat myself... and yeeesssss 63. minute - 3 : 1 for Barca. And from now on you won't get me off the screen until the 90th minute... sorry 93th minute....
