Going for the slogan: Oldies but Goldies, we are back here at our all over beloved topic: I've heard that name somewhere before, and not only, 'cause it sounds extraordinary. Well, that's only what's up to us elderly generation. Because concerning our youth, we can be happy, when they at least know whe the Beatles were and the Rolling Stones still are. Our generation instead does remember very well at the highly praised rockband Amen Corner back then, who shot to fame with hits such as 'Bend Me Shape Me' originally recorded by American Breed, or the song 'Paradise Ain't Half As Nice' , an italien song  of La Ragazza 77 & Ambra Borelli (Il paradiso della vita), - shaking the Rock'n'Roll world. Amen Corner were 'the' Teenie - Rock'n'Roll Band back then, earning quite a bit money and leading a posh life style. But everything's got come to an end sooner or later, also Amen Corner. Singer Andy Fairweather-Low then christened his baby Fairweather, which lasted about 2 years. In 1971 he finally went for a solocarriere, which is still going. In between he earns his salery with tour jobs such as in the Eric Clapton band or with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings. Between 1971 and 1980 he released 4 solorecords under his own name. After that there's been a very long break. First in 2006  he came out with a new album entitled 'Sweet Soulful Music'. This was followed by a retrospective named 'Best Of Andy Fairweather-Low - Low Rider'  and a DVD 'LIve In Concert' in 2008.
And with those products beeing released 3 years ago, the smart english man is here in Germany to promote those and also all the old stuff. - So and what is suited better for this just described style of music as our beloved and well filled Village Club in Habach, Southern Germany, close to the Austrian border. Abotu 100 guests have gathered tonight, some just beeing curious and many nostalgics. The most famous figure  in here tonight is probably Klaus Voorman, who definately belongs to the early Beatles history back then in Hamburg at Beatclub times. Currently he lives close by at the Starnberger Lake with his family.
And he only is seen at very few occassions, just as last time at the Ringo Starr show in July at Circus Krone in Munich. And now he's found his way to Habach...
Mr. Fairweather-Low does obviously like this club, also it's very small. But it's this familar, intimate atmosphere, where it is easy and nice to talk to people.

Andy is accompanied by Sax player Nick Pentelow, who we know best of, when he played with Roger Chapman back in the Eighties and Nintees. Bassist Dave Bronze played with Robin Trower, Eric Clapton and Dr.Feelgood in the past. And last but not least, there is drummer Paul Beavies, who were with Russ Ballard, Lisa Stansfield and others  before.

The setlist is split in 2 parts,as usual here at the Village. And while the first part rather goes for great solostuff such as 'Hymn For My Soul', which by the way was recorded by Joe Cocker new again a while ago or the well known oldie Rocky Racoon, recorded by the Beatles. Part 2  includes the already mentioned 2 smashhits of Amen Corner and Andy's biggest solohit
 „Wide Eyed And Legless’.

This is indeed a colourful mixture which is dominated by Andy's typical high voice, for what Amen Corner were already famous for.

Over all tonight's concert is pretty different to what we usually get at the Village here. It's no fusion, jazz, pure Blues or even Funk, but as I mentioned in the beginning, it's Oldies but Goldies, which do not sound antique or dusty, as we say so, but fresh and with still a lot of fun to play them. Put some witty and funny comments inbetween and all we got here, are two very entertaining hours of great music with a 100 percent de ja vu effect - no more no less... but surely worth while this evening....http://www.andyfairweatherlow.com/
