Either God gave it to you or none at all... it's as easy as that... But please let me explain this phenomenen in the beginning  out of my point of view.
to repeat myself from former reviews, - what's up to my job as music journalist, I'm seeing aprox. 100 to 130 concerts every years. Amongst those there are quite a few very good one's. But out of those, there are maybe only two or three artists who can manage to throw me out of my seven miles boots, as we say so, - because of enthusiasm. And that one of these again can repeat this effect on me a second time, this is as rare as a polarbear in the Sahara, if you know what I mean by that.
Because of course expectations, you've got from the experience of past concerts  of this artists, are screwn in astronomical heights. And most of the time, though the shows are still great, but this enthusiasm I can't show again. So within the last 30 years I can count those musicians, who could actually manage to wake up my enthusiasm a second time, I can count on one hand - seriously!
And that's why I'm really nervous, when I go out and check one of these artists out again, who have left me enthusiastic the last time I saw them, because they were so great. Y&T is such a rare case. And I can remember very well last time 2 years ago, when the band had played Munich and it had been so absolutely overwhelming brilliant. Not that I haven't seen that band before, but this show 2 years ago was kind of a key happening, which you never forget again.

Time passed fast since 2009, and things have changed meanwhile, unfortunately not just the good one's. So as you all know, original bassist Phil Kennymore had passed away much too early and left a hole, causing the question about whether to move on or not. And it did move on. The new screw in the fortress is named Brad Lang, and he does fit in very well indeed. With him and 'Face Melter' the current release from back in 2010, these US Rock'n'Rollers have now once again come over to Europe to prove, that they are still up to date and rockin'. - The rest of the band has stayed the same as last time and next to Y&T boss Dave Meniketti, there is still John Nyman (Git) and Mike Vanderhule (drums)

(please excuse the not so good sound quality of the clips. But that was rather caused
by the local acoustic circumstances and I probaby was to close because of taking pics. )

But most of all it's Meniketti himself, meanwhile 57 years of age, proving that age doesn't matter, and you can still lift the world out of it's angles. And that's what he does tonight here in Munich at the Garage Rockclub. Y&T are starting off at 8.30 p.m. (CET) as if there is no tomorrow with the intro 'On With The Show' which comes from 'Face Melter'. By the way the setlist shows six tracks from the new record. . The other 16 diamonds are Midnight in Tokyo’, ‚Mean Streak’, Summertime Girls, just to name a few. And of course there is the absolutely smash hit 'Rescue Me', or 'Squeeze' which is the only song, sung by guitarist John Nyman, who actually does explode at this point  worse then the Ätna voclano at it's current erruptions.

The official set is ended by 'I'm Coming Home', also from the new record. - 'We play What You Want' Meniketti tells the audiance, which is almost standing on their heads here at the sold out Garage. And it's obvious and not to over hear what they want: 'Open Fire' is the request and not shown on the official setlist.

This is absolutely great. Y&T do know how to smash even the coolest rocker from his barstool and get him to rock along with them, as the ice in the Jacky-Coke is melting. This here is Rock'n'Roll in it's truest form, just how it should be - hard, non  compromising, exploding - full of energy. The art to play such a performance on this tiny stage here, I just wanna mention on the side.

No, just like at the recent show of Swedish rockers Pain, there is not the slightest thing to criticise of. Everything is a 100% in place - the music, the vibe, the band, the aura, the fans, the boiling soup pot - no hurting feets because of 2 1/2 hours standing and jumping, no time to watch... And over all the spirit of Phil Kennymore is sailing across. Because this show and all the other's on this tour are dedicated to him.

Well, short and painless, Y&T have indeed managed again, to raise my enthusiasm without doubts or the slightest critics. Well and now I'm curious, whether they are able to manage this a third time, when they hopefully will be back in a not too far away future... I'm already waiting for that, and I assume, it's not just me.....
