Well, I don't think, I have to tell you much more about this extraordinary guitarist. Because I've done this before in my last
Live Review  at his show on Nov 4 2010 here at Munich's Garage Rockclub. Meanwhile this irish musician hadbeen here again, but I couldn't make it due to other duties. But now Pat McManus is back again. And slowly I've got this impression, that the oldest of the McManus Brothers does indeed insist of returning at least once a year, maybe even twice, though the audiance over here is still a small one. And every Time I ask myself all over again, why this great musician doesn't get more attention, of what he does actually get. I mean he's going on since the early Eighties through the international Music Business. And in the beginning he and his two brothres could manage to reach a certailn success level, by supporting other famous acts just as Gary Moore for instance. To repeat myself all over again, with 'Needle In The Groove' Pat, John and Tommy had a hitsingle. But as known, the magic ended in 1993, when brother Tommy passed away of Leukemia. Both Pat and John went for different projects then, and that's what they are still doing 'till this very day. While John played in Fastway for a while, and now is busy as a producer in Los Angeles, Pat has his own band baby, still trying to establish it outside Ireland...

But over here, he's still doing kinda hard to become more popular. It's heavy work actually, and I don't know whether it's due to wrong promotion  or the current trends.
However, it is a fact, that Pat McManus, also named 'The Professor' does certainly belong to the top ligue of guitarists. He only still misses out on a wider reputation. And so off we go once again to our beloved Village Club to enjoy great music in this living room atmosphere. To be quite honest with you, I personally prefer this anyway, compared to huge concert venues with lots of photo restrictions. And if you're lucky you catch some of the show situated miles away from the stage, though the pics might be better paid, the the one's of small gigs.

Although Pat would surely deserve a hundred times bigger audiance, one of those, many untalented teenie bands often got. But well life ain't fair in many ways. On the other hand we are glad, that we got the chance to check Pat out again and again anyway.
He doesn't need a setlist as many artists of that kind. That's why I can't tell you in particular, what he exactly has played tonight. But most of it is stuff from his solo records.

And I do remember, having heard one or the other piece of music last time, when I saw him live on stage. What could be mentioned is an instrumental named 'The Professor' has hadn't played for a long time, as he says so. - And as always, Pat uses his fidel at some part as always and as he did already with the Mama's Boys back then...

And it's even more impressing, when the fiddle bow is kuddling with the guitar strings.

Pat is still accompanied by bassist Gordon Sheridan, who's hat meanwhile has become sort of a brand and constantly hides what's beneath - his face,  - but not because of any possible hair loss.... "Well, that's the idea' as he says so himself.

In this way, drummer Paul Fallon doesn't have to worry at all. Because, what is not there anyway, can't get lost, can it?!

The threesome is playing great together and doesn't even get nervous when Pat's pedals break down. Pat finishes the first part of the set with a neat acoustic performance, followed by a 15 minutes break , which is pretty common here at the Village and meant for all those smokers here, who then have the possibillity to for one or the other cigarette outside. And nobody misses a single second of the gig. And as in every McManus show that one song remembering the Mama's Boys is included. And what else could this be then 'Needle In The Groove'.

In the end, my last thought is, what lucky girl I am lately to see so many great shows. And all of you out there, who have never seen the Pat McManus Band live yet, I can only advise you go and check them out, next time they are here. As a lover of good guitar rock music, you won't regret those 2 hours. And I think, that it won't take that long, until Pat, Gordon and Paul will be back... So watch out....
