Halleluja, tonight the true revelation  is taking part, what's up to Heavy Metal in the present. And this special kind of Metal is definately on it's way up, or up again - however! Well, at least what's up to our bavarian capital Munich here. Hmmm.... usually it was always said, that the South of Germany rather stands for Melodic Rock. But as this species has become very rare anyway, or better, the popularity got rare, this here is even more remarkable.
Now we are on a Thrash,- Hard. and Grindcore Metaltrip with tons of power and even more forces. The only thing contradictin with itselves,is the fact, that the headliner here, has already existed back in the Eighties. I'm talking of course of Suicidal Tendencies, who did never give a damn to change anything. So why? Their boss, Mike Muir also named Cyco Miko, just about one year younger than myself, still looks the same as back then in 1990, when he opened with his band on the Clash Of The Titans Tour. The only difference to back then presently is the fact, as I just said - he used to open for other's, now he and the goup are the kings of the road and have other younger bands supporting them.
Alrighty, we are here tonight at the biggest of our three Backstage venues, and the Persistence Tour Trek can look onto the largest audiance, they are having so far on this trip.In numbers that means aprox. a little more than 1.000 fans and friends of those luvely Metal melodies and stagediving - Moshpit - athletics, who have gathered here to get their ego dancing a swan ballet dance to those (un)melodic soothing luv and attention philosophy.

At early 6.30 p.m. the march of the Thrash toreror in the arena is starting off with a german outfit named Crushing Caspars.

And those are already busy sharpening their sabers, when I do arrive at the spot. Thanks to my delay, I can only show some visual impressions from behind at the sound desk. But never mind. The Band coming off beautiful Rostock in the very North of Germany, is spooking throughout the Metal highlands since about 1997 and gets the hazy mist wobbeling with their mixture of Hardcore and Punkmusic. This is fronted by Snoopy (no not the one of the Peanuts) who gets the stage shaking with his neat shape. However, though the Crushing Caspars have not released a new pirate flag new since 2010 and ‚Back To The Roots, Nevertheless Up To Date' so they did not hesitate to take this offer to open up the Persistence Tour 2012

Ready to storm the boat is the slogan of the Rostock pirates and is errupting in our ear shells The only little weak spot, as always in this position of such a big multi-event, is the fact, that at this early hour not all moshers have arrived at the spot. Shame, because the hardcore punk of Crushing Caspars  does truly have got some dejavu effect. http://www.crushingcaspars.de/

Lionheart are shooting off soon after....

These boys have to be careful not to get exchanged with the old english NWOBH band - same name. Whereby on the other hand I assume, that all these rather very young fans here, have never heard before of the those one's. Our US Thrashers, most of all singer Rob Watson, are not that long on their way as the english group, it's really only for about five years. And until now they've got two albums shown in their back catalogue. The songs of those are defying their liveset, yeah well, as much as you get into 30 minutes. (unfortunately not all bands have a setlist glued to the stage, one of them is Lionheart)
Therefore the place now is much more crowded meanwhile. Although it seems, these kids here are still saving their strength for later on.

Lionheart themselves get accepted by the crowd pretty well, though their input doesn't really rip the place into pieces, if you know what I mean by that. Well, never mind, it is definately enough to heat the oven up a little more.. Well it's pretty hard anyway to define a thrashy input....

Detroit, Michigan is the birthplace of the third chapter here named Walls Of Jericho.

And those are no unknown  on the Hardcore Heaven, as they get led by pretty Cancace Kucsulain since the year 1998. And her voice definatley doesn't show any similarity to Maria Callas.  Small but be careuf, that's the right discription for this bunch of energy getting hailed by the audiance. Okay our girl here does not neccessarely own a sexual aura as Shakira or model Gisele Bünchen, but her fresh appearence seeimg almost a little innocent gets some thrasher heart melting. If there wasn't this oral output, getting us straight back onto the ground. She and her collegues are topf fit despite the fact, that the band was on quite a break inbetween. And thier latest release is still the 2008 album 'The American Dream'. However, at least Walls Of Jericho have a setlist, which shows us their menu card and it's incrediances.

And thanks to the presence of Miss Kucsulain this band from Detroit City does leave a long lasting impression, you know what I mean, don't ya' - :-))) http://www.myspace.com/wallsofjericho

What follows next, is a so called super gau no less. And to be honest, I have not experienced such a thing often within my 30 years in the music business.

But it's less the band themselves, who are named Terror in this case, it's rather the reaction of the crowd to their presence up there. This what we call stage diving  has here developed into a true monsun raining human bodies frequently from across the stage. Jesus wept, and St.Peter has got nothing to laugh anymore, if he was in the middle of this eye of the hurricane. Anyway Terror are know for such phenomens. And at no other minute tonight there is such a madness going on as right here this very moment caused by this group from Los Angeles, who are going for 12 years now.

Within this time they have put out six studioalbums and 2 Live CDs, 4 EPs and quite a few demos. So they've got a decent choice of material for their 40 minutes gig here. One song definately sticking in my ear is the almost melodic 'You're Caught', yeah well as much as you can describe it like that... But this track has got something to it, and the madhouse here jumps over the top.

Jes... this is nice ain't it?! Only I myself don't wanna stand in the middle here, as I haven't made my testament yet. But seriously you can't describe this madness here in words, you've got have seen it yourself, otherwise it's beyond believe. Last but not least, the only worries what's left, is the question, whether all these kiddies here have still enough condition left for the last two bands.

Compared to the bands before, Biohazard have a few more years on their shoulders, to define it straight, it's almost a quarter of a century, and that sounds incredibly old... But havin a little closer look, this is not the case yet.

Because here none of the boys is suffering rheumatism. Although the band had to fight some health issues recently. So bassist Scott Roberts has to go to hospital, only to release himself for the show in the evening and then return  to it to get further treatment.  Now here in Munich it seems, good old Scott is okay again and he beats the hell outta his 4 strings. There is a another little change right now, as Biohazard drummer Dann Fuller has taken a little while off to be with his wife and new born baby. He is temporarely replaced by Danny Lagmana of Sworn Enemy.  though it doesn't make a hell of a difference to the fans. The resumee of this group are nine albums, 3 live recordings and more, also undergoing some breaks inbetween. But they still do certainly belong to the top league of these Thrashbands and are led by Billy Graziadei, who is showing a hell of dominance up there on stage, still seeming as the nice boy from next door...

And such as Terror frontman Scott Vogel did so some time before, also Billy jumps off stage to connect with the audiance, getting carried away by them. This band obviously is more popular than ever before and thrashes themselves even deeper into the heart of all their admirers. Our Thrashmetal Brad Pitt is taking a sunbath in the crowd and is answering this with lots of Biohazard romance, just as much as we can bare...:-)))

The nicest thing is, though somebody ain't that much fond of this heavy style of hardrocking tunes, the rhythm is pulling you away, pushing up your adrenalin level,  whether you want it or not, just to get ready for the final sprint tonight.

Suicidal Tendencies –  christ... how long is that, that I've seen that lot live on stage last time????

To repeat myself, it was back in 1990 in London at the Clash of the Titans tour, when Mike Muir and Co opened up for Testament, Metadeth and Slayer. And believe it or not, but those headband freaks are one since 1981, almost unbelievable. Whereby mind me, there is only Mike Muir left from the original line up. And within this band carriere there had been also some breaks inbetween.
Today, the situation looks a little different, and the band is celebrating their secon spring.  Only a brand new album is still missing for a new luck. But first of all there is a new Cyco Miko solo efforet on the way, and then we keep on talking about everything else.

What I do like on Mike Muir is the fact, that he is spotted already beforehead the show in the audiance celebrating a cyco dance with his fans, and then continue this up there on stage later on. And though his 50th birthday ain't too far away, Miko is still moving his sexy legs, as if he had a 1000 flees in his butt. Call it thrash cultural fresh cells or just a 3rd spring time. But however, it is also a fact indeed, that our headband cowboy is able to compete with every youngster mosher, stomping him into the ground with his sexy legs. Bad luck for us paparazzis, as Cyco Miko keeps moving constantly without any rest....

Suicidal Tendences are falling with the door inside the house with their biggest smashers, starting off with ‚You Can’t Bring Me Down’, which is probably menat in the truest sense of the word. Holy shit, all those memories are coming back at me. And I have to close my eyes, to be transferred back in time within a sec. No Miko hasn't changed at all, no real wrinkles, the serious face expressions and even the haute couture is the same and most of all the head band, which seems to be exactly the same one tonight, as worn back then. Don't wanna talk about generell face expressions and physical movement, which is also the same - heading for the slogan: if time stands still....

Cyco Miko is back again, this as sure as the amen in the Vatikan. One hammer follows the next and all those kiddies , who are almost completey exhausted after the 5 parts marathon before, give their very last shirt to hail their heroes with even more hardcore aerobic...

The Ralley ofDakkar is degrading to a light sommer trip in a Oldtimer Cabriolet throughout the gardens of Versailles, and the Tour de France becomes a sunday afternoon family happening compared with this madness here coming to an end after more than 5 hours within our Backstage Werk here.

Fazit of this evening is: our longings of Hardcore – Grind – Thrash or what so ever for Heavy Metal, is satisfied once again, the oldies of Suicidal Tendencies are fitter than ever, and Biohazard have collected some more points on the scale of Popularity. But the true winners of this evening in the middle of this high energy package are without any doubts - Terror with their ride to hell with a guide for a Navy Seals training. Live insurance not included.
