Uih, this is rather difficult. No, not it's principally complicates to write about this artist, but I've literatually said everything about Albert Lee before in my past live reviews on this website. But for everybody, who haven't read those critics back then, I briefly repeat myself here and tell ya', that english born Albert Lee, who lives in the States for more than 30 years, is one of the best and probably the fastest guitarist of our century. Whereby in my opinon this is a pretty relative description. Because what one of us likes and thinks it is good, the other hates it because it's not his or her flavour of the month. However it is a fact that Albert did receive countless awards thoughout his long carriere. And his very own song 'Country Boy' was newly defined with it's special finger picking guitar techniqs. This piece of music is still used for tests at the musician's institute in Los Angeles, as it includes one of the most difficult guitar solos. And of course we do got to hear it, when Albert is playing live. A show without 'Countryboy' - that would be about the same, as if the Rolling Stones didn't play 'Satisfaction'. Or 'Hells Bell's wouldn't be included on AC/DC's setlist. So no worries about that.Because our Country Boy here, meanwhile 69 years young enjoys an excellent reputation and his eye glasses, who he'd be pretty lost without them in daily life. As usual Albert Lee (and please do me the favour and don't get this name mixed up again with Alvin Lee from Ten Years After again) is returning all over again with his band Hogan's Heroes all over again to Europe in spring time - also to our Rattlesnake Saloon - formerly for 2 nights, not it is 3 shows on 3 evenings for the first time. |

Our Rattlesnake, the Mecca and the Meeting Point for Munich's Country- und Western Fan scene has dressed up again for these special guests to enjoy yet another show all over again. The reason I'm here, though I've seen Albert live on stage so many times before, is simply the fact, that he is so good. And of course I always ask myself again and again and all over again: will Albert be here next year again? But don't worry for now. Albert seems as fit a marathone sportsshoe sprinting to the northpole, what's up to his playing and general condition. But in fact, Albert mentiones, that he now has got a band in the US as well and wants to play more over there to save at least some travelling. His shows don't defer very much from each other, at least not what's up to Hogan's Heroes. The band is going for old classic tunes as for instance the Everly Brothers, who Albert played with for a few years. He goes for Elvis and Emmilou Harris. And all bandmembers in Hogan's Heroes Gerry Hogan (Steelgit), Peter Baron (Drums/Voc), Brian Hodgson (Bass7Voc) and Gavin Povey (Piano/Voc) are doing their solo stints with an individual piece of music.

Let's put it that way, Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes do not offer us anything real new, but only high quality music and solid entertainment, just like every year again, again and all over agin, and hopefully next year in march again. And we don't think much further, as we are grateful and glad, that we could enjoy our Country Boy once more. What's left to say?
