Back in the Eighties Sepultura from Brazil truly seemed somehow exotic, beeing born in the Amazonas delta.. Well not quite, because actually the band was born in Sao Paolo and had quickly rosen from down there and the cradle of Aztek god Huitzilpochtli into heavy metal heaven. 28 energetic years later, there is only one orignal member left, who is bassist Paulo Xisto Pino jr. - And at the circumstance, that somehow the exotic touch had gone over all those decades, not even chocolate frontboy Derrick Leon Green can't change anything. And that one again, is in the band now for 14 years already. - the Cavalera clan is past tense for many years as well. Another reason for the lost exotic touch is the fact, that the band meanwhile is more over here in Europe than back home. So call Europe their second home country.
Here in Munich you can rely on the fact, that Sepultura keep returning every year, sometimes even twice, and also play during the Free and Easy weeks at our backstage venue, when entrance is for free. Such a visit promises  a tropic sauna as well as getting squashed because of too many kids in here. The torture on an Inka altaro must be a pleasure, compared to this here. But who cares as we do keep the faith to our Sepulturas and we are here for yet another happy go lucky jungle thrashmetal massacre at about +50 C. - And it's wonderful all over again.
This current visit is still under banner of Kairos, their latest release. But as it is with most bands, our Munich die hard fand wann hear the greatest hits. And that's what we get all over again here.

But before we end up with Sepultura we get 3 more groups served on a plate, where everyone has got a different flavour. I do confess, I missed out on the first one named Hastur, so I can't tell you much about them. But number 2 Warbringer go on stage, whe I just have arrived and get annoyed once again, about the bad light for taking pictures.

This band is exisiting since 2004 and has 3 albums out. And exept one drummer exchange, they are still in the same line up, as they started out. Currently Warbringer are touring round Europe on every big open air festival you can think off and besides this doing this supportslot for Sepultura here in Munich. Thrashmetal fans do know their name already for a long time. And tonight it's obvious, that they do go down well on the audiance. The focus is their current longplayer 'Worlds Torn Asunder', which came out last year.

Apart from that, Warbringer are indeed a matter of taste. Some find them great, other's are still hesitating, waiting for their heroes Sepultura. In any case, this band has collected some points to tighten their status, that's for sure.

Afterwards our our dear boys from Dustbolt are on, who are our house combo here - yeah well almost....

No surprise as they do have sort of a guardian angel here at the backstage taking care for their innosence. But, and that's the nice thing about it, as often as I've seen these kids live on stage, I can honestly say, they are getting better and better.
And whatever is happening on stage up there is truly good. Although Dustbolt are also going for the hard way of Metal, they have got a clear structure like a fine line thoughout their tunes. And this makes it very special and as long as frontman Lenny's hair which is longer than himself.
Recently they have released a new musical trophy named 'Violent Demolition' which is their debut album.

By the way, 16 cameras do follow the show. And this looks like, as we can hope for a visual release soon as well. And this show is just right for that. The tenor fits to the music, also the light, and last but not least the average mood is absolutley smashing.

And our new generation of Thrashmetal can be proud of what they are doing up there - no queston about that. I think, we get to hear more of Dustbolt soon.

And it is definately only a question of time, that this band is climbing some steps higher on the scale of popularity. With all their youthful enthusiasm, nothing can go wrong really. The only thing missing is a little luck in every way and a little push by their daddy Markus.

So here the come our brazilian coffee beans, whereby the southamerican flavour is only by about 50 percent.

But we don't take this too seriously, as long as we don't get any Samba tunes to hear... But mind me, Sepultura have done such a thing a while ago, though it was only within a car advert. - Let's put it that way, it was a very funny thing indeed.

Apart from that, I can't tell you much more about this 187th or is it 188th show of Sepultura, as it's always pretty much the same. They are playing themselves throughout their complete history, though only in warp speed, otherwise it would be too much. And though singer Derek L.Green does visually impress a lot, it is actually guitarist Andreas Kisser, who is the boss here. It was his ego back than, which collided with the one of Max Cavalera, without blaming anybody for the split back then after so many years. I fear, there will be answer to that anymore in this life. But it doesn't have to be, as Sepultura in the current line up has been fully accepted by all the fans. And this again is rising the selfconfidence even more. One the other hand the foursome have always sticked to the ground with their feet, and they love their fans and the bavarian beer. In fact, we should ask them, whether they wanna move over here for good...

So what more to say? Sepultura work themselves nicely throughout their thrash orgy, which is surely not everybody's cup of tea, but on the other hand obviously loved by those more than 1000 fans here. And yes, they are special and have their very own brand created... And that's what I luv about them as well.

So for the happy end 2 songs definately must not be missing: 'Arise' and of course 'Roots'. With those tunes a Sepultura concert is a Sepultura show - no more no less.
And once again we go home very pleased with no wish open. And of course we are looking already forward for next Time. And I think this is coming sooner as we think....
