This time we got a show of the special kind, something both brothers Vinnie and Carmine Appice invented. Both - as known are great drummers and worked in the past with many well known Rockacts, starting with Dio and Black Sabbath, Vannilla Fudge and Cactus 'till Blue Murder, Rod Stewart and many more. But at some point the Appice's must have had the idea to do something together what's up to live work. The only problem is, that they are both drummers. - But what problem, the brothers must have thought, and so they created a so called kind of competition on drums - a drum war. On the other hand, a 90 minutes drum orgy  would be pretty exhausting. And only for real die hard fans of this instrument this would be a complete pleasure. But as the Appice's don't wanna pull only drum freaks, but also lovers of good rock music, they got themselves a backing band. And this one consists of guitarist Fabio Cerrone, singer Iacopo Mielle, who by the way, is also busy with a band named Tygers Of Pan Tang under the name - Jack Meille. And last but not least their would be bassist John McCoy, who once belonged to the Ian Gillan Band. But he only would, as he's not. Actually he is replaced by yet another italien musician named Donatello Comignani a.k.a Don Roxx.
And there we are at our Munich's no. 1 Rock'n' Roll Club - Garage. And first of all we can't believe, that 2 huge drumkits would fit on the tiny stage there. But they do indeed, though it means, that both guitarist and bassist are banned behind the drums. And the frontmann is positioned on the far outside of the stage - pretty unusial, but it works...

Carmine and his younger brother Vinnie Appice are starting off the set here with a true drum war, whereby technically I can't tell you much as I'm not a drummer myself. But from the structure it sounds like a clever designed system and even more skills. Whereby the entertainment aspect ain't missing, and both are battling in a very funny way, such as playing the Flintstones theme on drums only, but this not before the band have joined in to start off with Dio's legendary 'Holy Diver'...

Whereby you can spot immidiately, that those 3 italien's are excellent musicians themselves.

Ozzy Osbourne's ‚Bark At The Moon’ from the same titled album can also be found on the setlist. That's when back then Carmine played in the band of the Prince of Darkness. Apart from that, and what not everybody knows yet, Carmine has co-written one of Rod Stewart's biggest hits - 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy'. What we get here, is the hardrock version. And if the band up there had more space to move, it would get even more energetic across, than it does anyway.

Whereby again, I've gotta mention: at songs such as Dio's 'Holy Diver' only Vinnie Appice is handling drum duties, while Carmine is having his solo at 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy' and so on... The whole performance is mixed up with funny slogan's and comments, such as Carmine says, their surname is pronounced Appiiieeec... and Vinnie says: it's Appice... so what?!

– This is followed by another drum war, which again goes hand in hand with some witty interruptions. And one thing is for sure. You don't have to be a musician or a drum specialist to like this. And both drummer brothers Vinnie and Carmine Appice, who couldn't be more diverse, do play so well together.

And so a great evening is coming to an end. And before they are off, we get the hint, that Carmine will be back with reformed Cactus in spring. - On the other hand, we still haven't lost hope, that Vinnie will do his tour with Kill Devil Hill, which was cancelled recently.
In this sense.... good night from a funny and witty evening with Carmine und Vinnie Appice, who did show us so much talent, fun to play and entertainment... And that's what a great evening is supposed to be....
