okidok, this time we are getting to a rather very young band, only 4 years of age and with 3 albums in the back, whereby the first release was a purely digital one. Scott Holiday, Mike Miley and Robin Everhart have founded the Rival Sons. A little later singer Jay Buchanan joined. And they have been to Europe once before last year and have left quite an impression on the audiance here. Past september their latest album named 'Head Down' has been released, reason enough to swim across the ocean again. This band has actually focused on Europe anyway, not only because their label is an english one. They say, that Europe is appreciating their music much more and the fans are more loyal. And it really seems so, as last time it was said: the best thing since Led Zeppelin yeah well sort of this....
And maybe we not reaching out that far, but we have got curious, very curious indeed, exspecially those one's, who haven't seen them the first time.

This time they are playing our 59:1 club in the heart of the city. But that place has got a big minus, thanks to the fact, that above the place there are some lawyers located, working often late. So because of the noise level, the club has only permisson to have shows going on after 9 p.m. - So mostly bands are not starting before 9.30, and I'm talking about supportacts. And pretty often shows of the main acts are ending far after midnight. And this can be a drag for working people, who have to get up early during the week. - However, this can't be changed, so close your eyes and open your ears and straight through the walls with your head... If the show is great, we accept a short night once in a while.
And this time we are curious, whether the Rival Sons really are, what their reputation says....

But before that we got a supportact and that one comes from the Netherlands ans listens to the name Shaking Godspeed...

and this one consists of Paul Diersen – (Voc/Organ/Bass), Wout Kemkens – (Git/Voc) and Maarten Rischen – (Drums). Past february the dutch band has released their first album 'Hoera'. And it's not only me, not knowing what to think about this. In each case the music of Shaking Godspeed is an experimental unit of a metallic psychodelic mixture. Can't describe this much differently. Most of the fans here can't cope with that completely and there is a question sign in many faces including my own one. These three musicians are very young. And maybe they only still miss some more experience and selfdevelopement to give their music a more clear face. I admit honestly I don't get along with this much either. And most of the audiance doesn't really mind, when this 40 minutes sound symbiosis is finished. Apart from that, everybody is only waiting for the stars here tonight. But of course, for everybody who is still interesting and wants to know more about Shaking Godspeed, then please click onto http://www.shakinggodspeed.com/

Curiosly enoght, that the Rivals Sons have been discovered for Germany by one of the country's most well known late night show masters Harald Schmidt, who have introduced them to a wide audiance.

What a lucky co incident, because without this the current reputation of the band wouldn't be half a large. I guess so.
And as soon as the band has started their show, it becomes clear, that the group is a copy of many famous artists... but...!!! a brilliant one...The Rival Sons remind us on Led Zeppelin as well as on the Doors or Grand Funk Railroad or even the Black Crowes. Jay Buchanan and his slightly female note shows a mixture between Robert Plant what's up to the visual aspect and Chris Robinson what's up to the body work and also the other way round. And Jim Morrison says hello as well. Barefoot and almost like in trance he is constantly moving with closed eyes, showing very much sex appeal. Scott Holiday is the other focus up there. It's also like in many other rockacts, where the frontman and the guitarist are the Glammer twins...

No announcement given between the songs and the band goes for a pure musical intercourse. The sold out Club is quickly affected by the nonstop vibration up there and all those female fans, exspecially in the first row, can't get enough of Jay's Bodytalk and his amazing voice. Somebody told me before the show, that one of these girls had bought a ticket on ebay for 90 Euros, as she desperatily wanted to be there, and there were no regular tickets available anymore. No surprise either, as the place doesn't fit more than about 150 people.

The only bad thing about the event are the truly horrible light condition, which let's become  photographing almost impossible. No photopit given either and not much space to move or anything else and all this with a restriction of 3 songs only. So please excuse the rather low pics quality.
But however - it is a fact indeed, that the Rival Sons are really what their reputation told us beforehand. They do nothing new or even innovative and have copied  tons of all those great cult bands from the vision 'till the high C. But as we say so normally: "rather a brilliant copy, than a bad orginal". And maybe some day, they develop their very own thing...
Well - as much as there is anything new left nowadays....
