This band is existing for 3 decades now - halleluja, almost unbelievable... Whereby not to forget, that it's been pretty quiet around Black Lawless for some time inbetween as well. But for some years now, he's touring again around the globe, as if he wants to break a new record. To get it straight - W.A.S.P. have never been really away and had never split at any time. But the high times of the Eighties had been interrupted for this band and for many others of that kind, when alternative and Grunge came along in the early Ninties. For many groups it meant death. And also W.A.S.P. got affected by this movement.
Let's put it that way.... W.A.S.P. is Blackie Lawless, who by the way listens to the Name of Steven Edward Duren in real life, - and Blackie is W.A.S.P. - The only other bandmenber ever developed an individutal personality was guitarist Chris Holmes. But after two episodes in the group, he is history now for some time.

Don't have to tell you much about the history, as all you musiclovers out there know this anyway. Back then , Blackie's band was mostly famous for their bloody meat shows, for what they truly got infamous for. But we all get older and more relaxed. And Blackie himself counts 56 years of age meanwhile. On the other hand, he didn't change much, exept a little more weight, which is noticable around his stomach and his chin. -
W.A.S.P. have had 14 albums out so far, whereby the latest release 'Babylon' is already 3 years old But never mind, because first of all we now celebrate the 30th band anniversary, - reason enough for yet another world tour, though Blackie himself is the only one left from the original line up from 1982

Okay, back to the present, and this one is here tonight at the Backstage Werk in Munich, which is filled pretty well with aprox. 1000 fans. Very interesting is the fact, that there are many kids who weren't even born, when W.A.S.P. were founded.
Support comes from two bands named Alpha Tiger and Dark At Dawn, whereby I did miss the opener and caught the second group Alpha Tiger first half way through. And those  beam you right back to the Eighties as well with their tight spandex pants and the countless stuts. I can't tell you much more about these two bands. But if you're interested, then please go to

Blacky takes his time to start his show. And the audiance has got more than one hour to drink their beer and smoke their cigarettes outside the maindoor. Some of us, who have experienced W.A.S.P. last time they were here, are suspicious. We can remember very well, that Mr.Lawless endet that show after only 50 minutes, because of beeing in a bad mood. So let's and wait, see and be curious, what his condition tonight is like ....

.... and it doesn't take too long, until we can see, that he is indeed in a very good mood. And this is swapping across onto the audiance straight away... so the atmosphere in here couldn't be any better than this. So we celebrate the best W.A.S.P. party for a very long time.. By the way, there are rumours now and then, that Blackie ain't singing live  some of it...But this has never been confirmed officially. And because the average fan doesn't take any notice anyway, we better leave that alone. It's a fact, that this show is highly professionell, and the people here luv it. The set is devided in 3 parts, as Blackie explains, whereby the second part is a 30 minutes version of the Crimson Idol. Before that and afterwards we get alltime evergreens always accompanied by the orignal videoclips shown on the 3 screens on stage.
We get ‘L.O.V.E. Machine’, ‚Fuck Like A Beast’, 'Wild Child' and  ‚I Wanna Be Somebody’, where everybody in here sings along.....

‚Chainsaw Charly’ mustn'd be missing and the very last song is 'Blind In Texas'. And over all it is proved, that Blackie himself does have a brilliant evening himself with an almost 2 hours show...

No we can't complain at all. And you can say whatever you will about him, - that he is difficult, an excentric and whatsoever.... But this here has been a very entertaining evening and a solid Rock'n'Roll Show on a highly nostalgic level. Only the splattershow from back then is missing nowadays.  But times are changing - so what... And the kiddies from nowadays, don't know the old days anyway.. So what...?!
Music comes first that's for sure - and this ony has been absolutey right tonight - Amen!
