We Punkfans, and I mean those of us, who have been aware of the late Seventies and early Eighties, what's up to this kind of music, we are really not spoiled nowadays what's up to concerts of this kind. And that's why we are always happy, when one of these live acts, such as the Exploited, the UK Subs, the Vibrators or the Damned and Peter & The Testtube Babies roll along And one band shouldn't be forgotten amonst all those just mentioned one's. And these are the Toy Dolls, who back then could count only one song in the british charts, and that was - of course - 'Nelly The Elephant'-  Of course, this band around frontman Olga, who listens to the name Michael Alder in real life and meanwhile is beyond 50 something, has more than this one song, in fact quite a few other smash hits. But only Nelly did hit it really big. And believe me, the Toy Dolls are not the only band, who suffer this fate in the almighty huge Rock'n'Roll Circus.
However, it's a fact, that, compared to other groups, who return on a more or less regular base to the european mainland, - the Toy Dolls rather kept back for the past years. Actually it's eight years now, they have been to Germany last time for live action. But as we say so: the Dead one's live longer - and here they are again with a new vengeance and new fresh energy. And if I look at Olga, it seems, as time had stood still, as he still looks like 30 something and not 54. Not to mention his still great physical condition. In this way our boy here still competes with every 20 year youngster....
No need to mention, that the place, in our case Munich's Theater Factory is completely sold out, which means about 1.500 fans. Whereby at least half of it or even more, have not been on this world, when the Toy Dolls first started out and 'Nelly The Elephant' concered the punk world.

There is a supportband in Munich, but I missed out on that, as I had just arrived at the venue, when the main act is about to start the show. By the way - show time here in Munich is set for rather pretty late at 10 p.m. local time. But who care's in the end. It's a madhouse, as soon as Olga and Co are stepping onto the stage dressed in neat school boy outfits. But quickly this stepping develops into olympic high jumps. And as usual in punk music, one song hits the other including all those just mentioned smash songs, (see setliste below) - almost faster than the speed of sound and the entertainment here by is short while and funny no more no less. Those who have expected a sophisticated musical advanced musical art piece are surely at the wrong place here.

'Nelly The Elephant'

'Toccata' von Bach im Punk-Stil

And yes, you've got to have a little passion of punk to be able to enjoy it a hundred percent. I do it anyway, and obviously not only me, but 1.500 other's as well
After show Olga shows, that he loves his fans, taking some time to sign autographs and get pictures taken, and this makes this evening complete.
Last but not least we hope, that it won't take another eight years or even more, to be back for the Toy Dolls. In that sense, Nelly waves bye bye again and as we say so: hope it the last thing to die for...
