| Working
as a journalist for the past 21 years, I've read of course many of those
artists biographies. Some for information, but also because of
personal interest. There were soapy ones, boring ones, difficult and
excentric life-stories. But I never came across one like this here so
far. This goes beyond of conventions, beyond the norm and understanding
and beyond the good taste. It's a psychoanlytic controversy who lets Zodiac
Mindwarp
dive down into the darkest abyss of human degeneration. Within this book
the
Sigmund Freud of Rock'n'Roll
discribes his individual experiences and those of his band "The
Love Reaction".
It's mainly about drugs, alcohol and tons of sex. Music only plays a
irrelevant figure. Zodiac Mindwarp doesn't describe things in a nice
way, but he does it straight ahead out of his point of view only. He actually
goes that far, that we're getting the impression, he's got a real
problem with women. He tolerates them, (for certain needs) but he
doesn't seem to accept them thanks to many humiliations, which are
mainly caused by all these female groupies, bitches or just women by
themselves. All these perversities beeing told in "Fucked
By Rock"
go close to the abnorm. But despite all this, you can't help beeing
fascinated by the tales of a mad Rock'n'Roll group, and it feels kinda
hard to put the book aside, before having finished reading it. You
almost eat those reports of excess. You can't wait to turn pages over
to get to the next nightmare of sexism and controversies. Nothing
is beeing told smoothly. The band is taken apart and ripped into pieces in it's
structure of madness. In the end you're wondering, how everybody did
survive the manic insane trip. That nobody ended up in a madhouse or has
caught some strange deseases, or that their male pride didn't fall off.
(just trying to be polite, okay?!) But no, The Love Reaction seemed to
really have enjoyed themselves on these long journeys through America
and Europe promoting another record via live-gigs. They even say, they
would never like to change their lives with something else. (How can
anybody in the world have such fucking sexual urges nonstop round the clock?! I
mean, we all like these things, don't we, but I'd be dropping dead on
the floor with that much activitiy, - Jesus wept!) The snag to
the matter is, no
human beeing in this goddamned world can ever cope with a
highspeed.turbo-everlasting-psycho. drugs-sextrip like this one here. .I
just don't believe it. However,
fact is, "Fucked By Rock" tells a story, where the Rolling
Stones seemed to be orphans in their wildest days, Klaus Kinski would
change to christian confession, if he was still alive, and Mötley Crüe
would be praying a Lord's Prayer. - With
this book you definately got the hardest, the truest, the most amusing
and the most brutal
describtion of a Rock'n'Roll life.-
