James Vernon Taylor zählt zu den ganz großen amerikanischen Songwritern. Dabei hatte er nur einen einzigen Nummer Eins Hit. Und das war, der von Carol King komponierte Song ‚You’ve Got A Friend’ im Jahr 1971. Aber 19 Studioalben, etliche Best of’s... die zahlreiche andere Künstler beeinflusst haben, sprechen für sich. Er hat inzwischen sechs Grammys erhalten, hat zwei Ehrendoktorate erhalten und ist in die Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame und in der
Songwriters Hall Of Fame aufgenommen worden. Und er ist mit dem Life Time Achievement Award ausgezeichnet worden.
James Taylor gehört sicherlich zu den innovativsten, amerikanischen Musikern, zu jenen, die Musikgeschichte geschrieben haben.
’Live at the Troubadour’, das Album, das er zusammen mit Carol King eingespielt hat, ist seine bislang letzte Veröffentlichung aus dem Jahr 2010. Jetzt zwei Jahre später hat es James Taylor geschafft endlich auch wieder nach Europa zu kommen für eine Tournee. Nachstehend sind einige Eindrücke vom Münchner Konzert in der Philharmonie zu finden.

James Vernon Taylor belongs to the great american songwriters. Although he does have only one number one hit. And this is the Carol King written track 'You've Got A Friend' from back in 1971. But 19 studio albums, many Best of's.... which have influenced so many other artists, speak a different language. He has receives six grammys sofar, 2 honourable doctorates and has been intoducted into the Rock'nRoll Hall of Fame and into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
James Taylor is certainly one of the most innovative US Musicians, who have written music history.
'live At The Troubadour', which he's has put out together with Carol King, is his latest release from 2010. Now 2 years later, James Taylor has finally managed to come back to Europe for yet another tour. Please find some more impressions of the Munich show at the Philharmonie.

Die James Taylor Show ist sehr gut besucht, aber nicht ganz ausverkauft. Aber es war bis oben in die Ränge sichtlich gut gefüllt. Es wird in 2 Sets gespielt, (James Taylor selbst will die Pause eigentlich nicht und sagt "now I will be standing behind the stage door for 20 min. and wait!) und das Publikum ist von Beginn weg total begeistert. Es sind sehr viele Musiker im Publikum, und ein sehr großer Anteil der Leute sind Amerikaner und Engländer. Man hat fast mehr Englisch gehört als Deutsch. Das Publikum hat ihn regelrecht "verehrt" und hat ganz andächtig zugehört. Musikalisch ist alles eher schlicht gehalten, die Band ist ganz dezent im Hintergrund platziert, und er hat die Show quasi nur mit seiner Gitarre bestritten. Zudem Hat Taylor eine ungeheuere Ausstrahlung und Präsenz auf der Bühne. Die Songs selber sind genauso zurückhaltend wie er selbst, aber das hat er durch seine Aura wieder wettgemacht. Beim Autogramme schreiben gab es ein Geschiebe und Gedränge, als wäre Robbie Williams da ;-))) Alles in allem hat sich der Abend auf alle Fälle gelohnt und hat einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen.

The James Taylor show here is very well filled, though not quite sold out. But it does look filled very well. The show includes 2 sets. ( Taylor himself doesn't really want this break inbetween and says: "now I will be standing behind the stage door for 20 min. and wait!". From the vrey beginning the audiance is totally enthusiastic, whereby there are many musicians here and many of the crowd are english and american. You hear almost more english talking than german.
Musically it's kept rather simple, the band is placed in the back, and he himself does the most of the show just him and the guitar. Taylor's got a gretty good presence on stage. Although the songs are rather laid back, just as himself, but the huge aura works for itselves.
Signing autographs after show causes such a request, that you could almost think, Robby Williams was here... Over all the event has left a great impression here....
