.... it is, what it is, but it ain’t what it used to be…..   a phrase from a phantastic song  from Johnny Cash and his Highwaymen which i thought of immidiately, at this show of Foreigner 2007.
It's a strange feeling, when I watch this band  under the  this famous banner of a rocklegend up there on stage. Exspecially when you know the band from the past very well and their two frontmen Mick Jones and Lou Gramm personally.. No there's nothing to complain about this group. They are good, very good, and probably live even better than ever.

Tollwood photopasses are a piece of paper and not a sticker like usual

Once again I missed the Supportband

Yep, I can spot this sparkle in his eyes, even from far away. Mick Jones shows a huge selfconfidence. And he looks very fit for his 62 years. The midlife crisis is past tense and the 3rd spring has just started. Mick starts off with new chances and jokers in the third chapter of Foreigner. One of this jokers is named Hitsingle potential in the Background, which is huge. And the second is named Kelly Hansen, Jason Bonham, Jeff Pilson,Jeff Jacobs and Thom Gimbel, who are all brilliant musicians.

Okidok, it all sounds great and could be even better. But who the hell is this band, who name themselves Foreigner, just because the only left original Mick Jones ownes the rights for the name. It was him who founded the band in 1976 together with Lou Gramm, Ian McDonald, Dennis Elliot, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi. There have been a lot of high points and also some deep points in the history, which led from countless hitsingles to a split with Lou Gramm inbetween. For him Johnny Edwards came in. But after only one record, this chapter was closed as well and Lou was back again. 'Mr.Moonlight' came out. And after Lou has survived  a terrible brain tumor illness, the band once again toured very successfully throughout the US. After that he went off for the second time to rather follow a solo carriere. After that there was a big question sign, whether the band was dead  or not. In 2005 Mick Jones formed the group completely new... And there we are...

Foreigner 2007 are certainly trying to give the legend a fresh soul. And this soul still lies in
Urgent’, ‚Double Vision’, ‚Hot Blooded’, Jukebox Hero’, my favorite Song 'Head Games and many more. And yes indeed, it is those songs, which pull aprox. 4.500 people tonight at the Tollwood festival. And so it is the best visited concert of all 14 festival gigs.
off we go with 'Double Vision' into an energetic show, which is pushed by new singer Kelly Hanson.

The setlist a bit translated into germany, yeah almost....

This guy has got the entertainment in his blood, and he gives everything, although apparently he is not so well tonight. But that's what a proffessional is for. He definately shares most of the limelight with Mick Jones and even climbs up to the ceiling on the side towers.

Bassist Jeff Pilsen who we all know from his time in Dokken. And also Jason Bonham, who Mick has got for his project. Yes of course this boy has got an advantage because of the name of his Daddy John, who used to be drummer in Led Zeppelin. But finally Jason got out of the shade of his dad, and showed, that he is an excellent drummer for himself.

No, we can't complain. Up there is a brilliant rockband, who perfectly perform excellent song material. The audiance luv's them and sings along. The general mood is great, and it is almost like a big party. I also think, this  here is a first class concert and everybody is happy and gets what he paid for. Some of all these fans certainly go and listen to their old records again, or even buy a few new one's.
A big compliment to a great band and a great performance.
There is only one little thing, I've got to complain about....
This here is everything in a positive sense, but......
This is n o t Foreigner...

Like the Highwaymen say so:
