...and yes there I am, and it's not just me, asking myself, what the hell are they doing here again in Munich. On the other hand, I am very happy about the fact, that Michael Trent Reznor is knocking on our door again after just six months. Does he luv Munich that much, that he spoils us with a club gig. Or is this only a lucky coincident to fill a spare day  before going back home. Or is the request for Nine Inch Nails that big in this town? Okay, we probably never get to know the exact truth. But it's a fact, that this show tonight is indeed a 'club' gig when you think in NIN dimensions. This band usually fills venues with a capacity of aprox. 8.000 fans, or appear on open air festivals with even more people. Compared to that, our good old Circus Krone seems rather small with only about 1.000 freaks, who found their way here. But on the other hand, the request didn't seem too big, because it is still not completely sold out. Maybe because it's still holiday time and some people prefer beaches and sunshine before returning back to normal.
Never mind.... Fact is, that this band is bound on to a huge intensity, which surfaces even more in such a small frame. And even their gig in march here in Munich, didn't quite convince me really  (read
here) - so tonight it's the total positive opposite. And within every new live review I do repeat myself  with the same statement: Nine Inch Nails are Trent Reznore, and Trent Reznor is Nine Inch Nails and absolutely none other - amen!

The rest is nessessary equipment to make it possible to play that music live on stage. Before this show tonight, Trent said at a meet and greet: "have a good look at this here, because you won't see it in that line up again." I must say, I believe him straight away. Trent has never done things twice or repeated. He further says, that he's a bit tired from touring that long within the past summer. - But later on during the set, you won't realize it. He is a professionell, that's for sure. And he suffers from his own perfection. Reznor combines perfection with devotion and passion, aggression, a bit melancholy and some resignation. This man owns an almost scary sexual aura on stage,.
This aura is underlined by a overdimensional lightshow, which makes life a hell for us photographers. Last time we were allowed to shoot pics at track 5 - 7. This time it's 9 - 12. And within this time space we desperately try to get hold of Trents (slimmer again) silhouette within the foggy light. And whenever we can manage to catch his eye straight into the lense, his look is deadly and stingy. The song 'Closer' suits perfectly to this situation. You know what I mean....
I wanna f... you like an a...etc. etc....  Everything suits so well, so perfect so intensively....

A Nine Inch Nails Show ist truly an attraction. Here a certain vibe mixes up with great musicianship, shouting out in a kind of frustration. And this gets underlined with a brilliant lightshow. For some moments, even guitarist Aaron North pulls the attention of the audiance. Once because of stagediving into the crowd and then nearly the end putting out his energy into destruction, and not only his guitar is a victim  and gets sacriffied. All that, after Mr.Reznor left the stage already.

It's almost unbelievable, that Trent Raznor in normal day to day life is pretty much talkative. On stage he rather mims the opposite, and he doesn't waste a single word towards the audiance between the songs. No not quite. Only once, he say thank you out of the dark in the back. Wauw...this is much, very much for a Trent Reznor. Apart from that he puts out his complete philosophy of spiritual-musical art, thanks to the - just mentioned intensity. Like always, aprox. 2 hours and 'Head Like A Hole' as the grand finale, and the mastro is dissapperaring in the darkness without good bye and without any encore, - like always! And nobody is complaining. Probably because it's just enough...

No we don't have enough of Nine Inch Nails yet. And even Trent Reznor has said before, there will be only maybe 2 more NIN albums..- And then? I presume, he doesn't know exactly by himself - what then... But I'm pretty sure, that this intellectual brain will put out much more in the future.
I for my part ask myself only: have we seen Nine Inch Nails really for the last time and heard their, or better his music for the last time?
I do not hope so instantly...  Like we always say - never say never again...

This has been truly one of the best shows in 2007 so far besides Steely Dan and the Eagles Of Death Metal.
