It's just been about 18 months, that the John Butler trio came to Germany and Munich the very first time. (see here) The 32 year old australien rocker impressed us very much indeed with his talents and this individual mixture of Bluesrock and folk-influences. Whereby those influences come from all kinda countries, most of all India and his native country. One thing's for sure and it became true at his second visit, he left a deep impression first time he was over here. And the result this time is - sold out completely. Here in Munich tonight, the audiance consists of aprox. 2.000 fans. That's twice as much as last time.
Just briefly let me repeat this. Since 2003 the John Butler Trio is playing in the same line up, which is next to John himself, Shannon Birchall on bass and Michael Barker, who comes from New Zealand, on drums.

In Down Under they are superstars already, and now they do everything to reach the same status here, although it'll take a bit. But never mind, John Butler rather seems anyway, he is happy about every single fan, who is listening to him. And as  the resonance of the audiance increases, his face expression gets a little extra sunshine. He sings about relationships, but also about political worries. In fact all these bombthreats etc. seem to bother him so much, that he gives a little extra explanation inbetween the performance.

John's practicing understatement by sitting most of the time on the far left behind his mike and with his acoustic guitar. Only sometimes he uses some other exotic looking instrument to give his music this certain special little something what it needs to sound perfect. The show is devided in three sections. It's starting pretty energetic and leads into a rather quiet solopart, which stretches far out, much more, than last time. But after that it's getting back to the threesome and a more lively tune again. To be honest, I personally do think, that John Butler's music could be even more enjoyed, if there were seats.
But he is a brilliant musician anyway, that's for sure, and the fans luv' him. No doubt, that the californian born has got much class and a huge talent.
And he has
surely climbed up the leather of success a few steps higher with this current tour.
I'm sure he'll be back again over here sooner or later. As you all know out there - Bumerangs always come back and back and back....
