Okay, once again Alter Bridge, some of you might think. As this band has just been here past february in Munich, but in the much smaller Backstage Venue. I went to this past show, because I had a photocall only and not the slightes clue, what to expect, because I knew this band only from their biggest hits so far.
Today I'm coming here, because then I was totally enthusiastic about this group and their alternative Rockstyle, which I'm usually not so much into. But Alter Bridge had told me something better, and they were simply great.
So I won't loose many words about this band. You can read the old
Review from february. And there is not much more I could possibly include to the past enthusiasm.
The current album is still 'Blackbird' and the line up of the band hasn't changed either. But it probably has been the very positive resonance from their last tour, which encouraged Alter Bridge to come back a second time within this year. And also this time it's sold out in the much bigger Tonhalle. To get it straight, there are twice as many fans here as last time, aprox. 2.500.....

Support comes from scotish independend rockact 'Logan', who are not for the first time on tour with Alter Bridge.

These two bands toured already together in 2005 in Europe. And since Logan supported Bon Jovi in Hampden Park in England in front of more than 40.000 fans, they belong to the hottest new acts in Great Britain.
To be honest, this band doesn't exactly meet the nerv of the Munich audiance. And the reaction is somehow hesitating. This might be due to the fact, that they are still pretty unknown over here, but also because of their very laid back alternative style, which doesn't let the energy swap over, though the musicians of the band are truly good one's. Somehow difficult to describe these guys. I would say Logan's style is twice as alternative as Alter Bridge's style. In the end this band receives a polite applause, but as they say so in Britain: it's still not quite our cup of tea.
But whatever still not it, can still happen in the future....

Alter Bridge are welcomed with such a lot of enthusiasm, that they would not even need to play anymore...

But they do of course with all their strenghts, they are able to. Most of all it's Myles Kennedy, who recently was already rumoured to jump in for Robert Plant with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Boham. But fortunately it has stayed a rumour. Girls in the first row get sparkling eyes like once in the past Vivian Leigh did at Clarke Gable in - Gonne With the Wind. But well, it doesn't matter really, in which way fans adore their heroes, does it?!
You've gotta give Myles that much, as he owns a hell of a lot stage presence with a high potential of aura, putting his band mates into the background somehow.
And that one is pretty good as well with Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips.

The harmony inside the band is excellent and the Black Bird liftens it's wings across the exhilarated audiance. Myles entertain the fans with lots of charming witty statements inbetween the songs. And the setlist is very well mixed together with new and older tunes... So there is no boredome provided.

though I have to confess I'm not a very big fan of this musical style, like I mentioned before. But I'm open for everything, which means I would never ignore something before I haven't heard it. In the end there are only two kinds of music: good and bad one, as I often said before. And Alter Bridge certainly belong the the first cathegory. In the end we get a real blues from Myles only on stage, which proves my attitude. Music is only Music, whether it's alternative rock or Bluesrock... If it is well served, then it will be received with pleasure.....
