It's just about one year and three months, that the Kaiser Chiefs have been here in Munich. Then it was the unbeloved Zenith venue. This time it's the smaller Tonhalle in the center of the city. I presume there are aprox. 2.000 fans here tonight. However it's a fact, that the place is crowded. And like I always use to say: rather a smaller place really full, than a big one, seeming empty. Mind me, when you think, that the Kaiser Chiefs currentyl fill arenas up to 30.000 in their home country Great Britain, then this here probably seems to the band like a club gig with an intimate atmosphere. But the boys are very professionell and show exitment themselves about these 2.000. The mood is brilliant and ready for action.

First thing coming up to my mind, is the fact, that this time there ain't only youngsters in the audiance but also quite a few older guys and girls, who probably came here, beeing curious. Probably heard the music from their kids, or on the radio, where the songs of the Kaiser Chiefs get played up and down. Because it's not to heavy and very commercial, so you can sing along with them.

Between last time and this gig, also a new album has been given birth, entitled ‚Off with Their Heads’. It's the third CD of the Kaiser Chiefs. Here in Germany they ain't that successful, of what they are in England, but they have never stopped following the same stylistic path. And yes of course, why not letting a horse loose, when it can run, as we say so.
To get it straight and clear. Since their big hit 'Ruby' from the 2007 album  ‚Yours Truly, Angry Mob’, the Kaiser Chiefs belong to the most successfull new young bands, Pop-Rock music is offering us. Although they are already going for 6 years.

Please don't torture me, but once again, I dismissed the supportband, who are named ‚DANANANANAYKROYD’ and they come from Glasgow.
I just arrive by time at 9 p.m. to take my pictures during the first 3 songs of Singer Ricky Wilson, Guitarist Andrew ‚Whitey’ White, Bassist Simon Rix, Keyboarder Nick ‚Peanuts’ Baines and drummer Nick Hodgsen. And that's not easy. Because as I mentioned alreay in my live review from 2007, it's exspecially Ricky Wilson, who can't stand still for a single second. And if you take the rather difficult light circumstances, it is far from easy to shoot decent images.
The band plays themselves through their whole song spectrum, with the focus of the New Album.

Thanks to the huge physical exhaustion during the performance, the breaks inbetween the songs last a bit longer. Which on the other hand gives a, how shall I describe it? - rather non flowing impression. One of the highlights is already the 5. song, which is.... of course 'Ruby', a song, everybody knows somehow, even he doesn't know the band. You know what I mean...?!

But also the rest of the program doesn't leave any wishes open. And the fans in here are celebrating one big party. It's a good show, no doubt about that, though it's nothing advanced or even difficult music. But the push the button with their - good mood, commerical song material. And let's be honest, what more do you want to have a good night out without any extravagancas.
And so that's what the Kaiser Chiefs do here for the rest of the show, which I do not survive....

Because after about 45 minutes I change the venue, just to the smaller club behind this one here (2 minutes walk) where Don Airey (Deep Purple Keyboardist) plays a solo show. And I get a little piece of that cake as well. Hey, it seems, like I step through a generation change....
here.
