Question: how to become a mum for the very first time,  in the middle of my fourties in just one night? It's so easy, you won't believe it. You just go to a show of the Bones and then.....
Well, we're getting a little later to this. Let's start from the beginning. It took almost 2 years until this swedish punk invasion is now back to overroll us again. There is no brand new album, just a new DVD, and the band is still sailing somewhere in the half shadow of the Rock'n'Roll Nirvana. Let's get it straight: their name is pretty well known in the scene, but the big bang for some sort of superstar status has yet to arrive. Can't tell you why, as this group truly deserves more than, where they are right now.
But at least the average middle sized Clubs are always pretty well filled. Not tonight unfortunately, where our Backstage Werk carries only about 500 fans. Although I presume this has nothing to do with a loss of popularity, but it's rather up to the average economy crisis and to be at the right time at the right spot. This economy problem has evolved in the result, that the sales figures has gonne immensly down in music in generell, which again means for all those artists out there, touring, touring and touring. And so we got at least 3-4 concerts every night in this town here for instance. And that's just too much for the average fan's pocket money budget. And the Bones are just one of many acts beeing a victim of the time ghost, as we call it in german.
This band is going for 14 years now, putting out 4 EPs, 4 albums and 2 singles and 1 DVD so far. - For everybody who is not familiar with the group, - The Bones are: Beef Bonanza (Voc/Git),  Spooky Fred (Drums, Andi Nero (Bass) and Marcus „Boner“ Petersson (Voc/Leadgit.) And if anybody asks me, who I'd think are the nicest scandinavian rockers on this planet, then I'd have to say, it is indeed these four boys. No, don't worry, as a music journalist I don't get influenced by charming attractivity what's up to my critics about their live performance. But it's gotta be said for once. Beef, Spooky, Andy and Boner are only Rockstars on Stage. Off Stage they take a lot care about their fans, have even more fun with Wodka and Jack Daniels and get a little crazy as well. And then our planet is just doing alright.

Bad Boys For Life – Tour, this trip is called, where the Bones are accompanied by 3 more acts. But I have to confess, that the first two bands passed by my conciousness, because of time problems with another appointment beforehead. But at least I want to mention them. First of all it's  Left Alone a Punkband from Wilmingen,California, who are standing for simple straight punk music of the End Seventies put into a modern dress. Number 2 is Reno Divorce  from Denver, Colorado, who's music remind me strongly on Social Distortion.

Also from the USA but from Boston are the Street Dogs.

And those are the first one' s I do see and hear live tonight. And once again we have landed at a more english orientated form of punkrock, which is underlined by a rather english outfit and the average stage presence.
What I can tell you about this band is: after Mike McColgan has left the Dropkick Murphies in 1998, he then founded the Street Dogs four years later, - together with one guitarist, bassist and drummer. Since then eight years and 4 albums have passed
whereby the latest release had come out past year. Apart from Mike McColgan the band consists of bassist Johnny Rioux, guitarist Tobe Bean III (since 2006, Drummer Paul Rucker (since 2006 and leadguitarist Marcus Hollar.

Anyway, the  Streetdogs don't offer us anything innovative, but it's an energetic liveshow with an intense connection to the audiance. Mc Colgan is continously seeking the contact to the fans by jumping into the crowd and running throughout the place. Well that's not very difficult, as the place which usually fit in 1.200 heads ain't that much crowded with only 500. The only thing I can criticice a little is the fact, that their is a little too much talking inbetween for my taste. But apart from that the Streetdogs do deliver a decent explosive punkshow satisfying all punkrock freaks.

And there we go – straight through the bone.... cool like always with sunglasses and dressed in black, as we are used to it. That's how Beef and the gang concquer the stage to rock the paint from the walls in here.

Al Capone says hello, and gives  punk music a new name. But most of all our beloved swedish teddybears are living poster pillars, where Van Gogh, De Goya and Picasso could really take an example of, what's up to modern art. Well, unfortunately we only get to see some of all these painting, as other's are hidden because of special reasons, though it wouldn'd be uninteresting :-))) But whatever we do spot here does make impression enough. There is only one guy, who does even better, and that's Bones Fan no.1 Lupo from Austria (view Diary below) -
Well brands and logos are always good for a band, but in the end it's still the music, which defines the tune. And that one again is absolutely right pushing the energy level up into space and beyond.

The Bones are producing straight in the Eyes – Ass kickin’ Rock’n’Roll in a punky frame. You don't find any ballads no sentimental soaps, but therefore a lot of pressure straight into our faces. And that costs a lot of energy. The lead vocals are split between Beef and Boner, whereby the difference here is like a lucky blackbird and a drowning country crow. But that's definately not a disadvantage as it fits perfectly into the Bones song concept. This is Rock'n'Roll in each tune twisting a double roll over.

And they got Sexappeal whether it's Beefy's punky hairstyle, Andy's General Custer hat, Spookys individuel drumming face expression (see above) or the most impressing eyes of whole Scandinavia  (that's a little goody for the expression country crow :-). Hey hey, and don't forget, the eye is always eating as well, (at least for us females) as we say so :-)))

Musically the band is pulling out of their back catalogue. The slogan is 'Burn Out Boulevard, whereby on this tour it's rather the new DVD 'Burn Out in Berlin'. Whatsoever - we do this as well here in Munich, I mean - burning out.

And that's what they do 'till we all drop and drown in our own sweat. Because Bones music can finish you off in a positive sense of course. That's exactly how a real Rock'n'Roll Party should be in the style of Sex and Booze and barbecue sausages and toyboys and  newly mum's and even more hard rockin' Burn Out Bones'n Roll.....
Last word: it's a fact, whoever hasn't experienced the Bones so far live on stage (or off stage) has definately missed out on something - in the truest sense of the word and holy spirit.
