Expectations are therefore to be fullfilled. But when this expectations turn out differentyl  as thought, then the after effect is even bigger. That's how it goes at the concert of Evile at the Backstage Club here in Munich, which is not much crowded unfortunately. To name it by numbers, that means aprox. 50 fans, who have found their way on this very cold winter evening to this place here. Although 3 bands of the thrashmetal culture  are shown on the schedule, most of all Evile, whom I've got some memories of, but don't ask me where from right now. I only remember it was Munich some years ago. Never mind, Evile have aproved meanwhile, and instead of opening for other well known acts, they have dared the kamikaze flight of a headliner tour. Well as we say so: who doesn't dare doesn't win. And maybe they've done better at other shows on this tour as here in Munich, what's up to the number of audiance.

Well tonight we are here, and right now Dr.Living Dead have started their moonlight dance to a happy go luck boney skull party...

Jesus wept...this blue'ish paleness is underlining the black eyeglimpse in posh noir and Colgate ulrta white is delivering an ad for some our our bad wisdom teeth. Because those neat white plastic teeth are just part of some sort of image care. However Dr.Living Dead are coming out of Sweden and splatter around with their artifical skullbones since the year 2007 throughout the Hardcore Crypt of Heavy Metal. But it took another four years to release the selftitled debutalbum, who the hell knows why.  I have to confess, I'm over asked about all those different kinds of Heavy Metal. But I've been told , that this here is a cocktail mixtures of Hard - and Grindcore, which again mixes up with old School Metal.
Well if somebody would tell me the difference between a TzeThe mosquito from Nigeria and a desert flea from the southern Nile delta, it would have the same success. So we better leave that out and go only for the fact, that our ears once again get a kamasutra of multiplicated sound waves. In each case the visual aspect is given. And ever camera lense is delighted of such a thing... because it doesn't get boring at all...-

unfortunaltely this is the only setlist available
tonight....

well I don't know about that.... but breaking styles is tempting, ain't it?!

But it doesn't do so anyway. Because those few desiples of meltallic art are bathing within the imaginare sun of grind core ultrawaves. Who cares... there is certainly a high level of entertainment . And whoever also likes the stage show should be happy about all this.

The second sound cascade does go a different way, than the opener...and this is to realize immidiately...

Because this here ain't no Hard or Grindcore, but finest Black Metal, presented by some extraordinary figures, who are named Portrait. And the only thing they've got in common with the opener is the fact, they are also coming out of Sweden, - from a town named Kritianstad. And they can even count one more year of existance. Apart from that, Portrait can show some more business cards within their coffins. And those are 2 EPs and 2 studioalbums, which guarantees them a little higher status, than the Zombie Docs before them. And while those beat the hell outta everything straight between the eyes, this combo show more variety and most of all even some melodies. In fact the remind me a little on old King Diamond - Mercyful Fate stuff, but maybe because of Per Karlssons vocals. Because those get glas exploding as we say so. And he's proving that, not with glass but with a plaster skull deadringer, which is jumping down from it's place, because he can't cope with the high C and bursting into 1000 pieces.

This is coming along with such a surprise, that Mr.Karlssons face expressions tells an individual story.Maybe he should go for a job within the Phantom of the Opera  from Dario Argento, who is famous for all his splatter movies.
However the mourning is big about the end of Portrait's deadringer skull. But they are professionals and don't show a move in their faces. And so our weed owl  with his kinky eye make up  continues with his impressing songs, such as the Queen of the Night in Mozarts magic flute does. What else catches our eye, is the overdimensional necklace  in shap of an upside down cross of our Metal Caruso. And that's what we call image care...ain't it`?

Portrait are offereing here indeed interesting perspectives and the noise level is taking care that Karlsson's high F is drowning in a thunderstorm of sound. Shame, because principally those Swedes got something to offer, whether it's for our eyes but also for our ears.

And d now we finally get to our Stars of tonight, who are actually the most unspectacular looking one's in every way...

Therefore singer Matt Drake owns a pretty high attractivity, and some metal brides would get glittering sparkles in their eye twinkle. - I say would.... as the problem is, that the number of female fans are almost non existend.  What a pity, as this boy is certainly worth a sin. But it's his own fault going for a band of the thrashmetal culture, where women are a rarity.Meanwhil I remember, where I've seen Evile before. It was march 10 in 2008
here supporting Megadeth here in Munich.
Those english guys are playing now for 8 years throughout the international metal world and have established themselves with 2 EPs and 3 albums. The latest release named  ‘Five Serpent’s Teeth’ has come out last year. And that one is responsible for taking the risk of a headliner tour. I don't know, how big the crowds are elsewhere, but here in Munich it's rather low. Mind me, this town is known as difficult anyway. Okay, this is only the second show of the german leg of the tour. so what not has happened yet, can still be happening as we say so.

Evile are, exept sunnyboy Matt Drake also his brother Ol Drake on six strings and Ben Carter on drums, whereby I ask myself what is bigger he or his drumkit. And there is Joel Graham on bass since 2009. He came in for Mike Alexander who passed away much too young.Well this band has got something to it, and this has nothing to do with visual things. It's a great cooperation between the band members, and it's Ol Drake showing tons of talent on his instrument. Brother Matt is spilling a lot of aura going for a slogan: always look on the bride side of life. And that's when it get obvious, that the place is just big enough for the small audiance for their moshing and stage diving.

What really is missing here, is the dead serious attitude, which si typical for Heavy Metal. But there is no sign of mean metal attitude, and that's good and what I like best on these boys. there is no skull bowling as with Dr.Living Dead and no satan wheeping willows as it is in Portrait. No there is a lot of rhythm and a good mood and this thrashmetal does win a witty entertaining note. That's why I have to confess with a twinkle in my eye, thrashmetal whatsoever, but I do like Evile in many retrospects. And over all this everning was everything else, but not boring at all....
