Every year again and all over again Santa Claus is coming...  - but not Deep Purple, because their
letzter Besuch
was back then 2 years ago - same place - Munich's Olympic-Hall. Even back then many visitors of this show have stated, that Purple have somehow reginerated, back from a sort of deep Point. Also guitarist Steve Morse fits in better into the band every time they play another tour. Well meanhwile another 24 months have passed. And now Deep Purple are back again. We ourselves have come here tonight out of 2 reasons. First of all we are curious, whether our cult band has hold the condition the had showed last time, though we all got two years older....
And second, we always think at such rockbands of the first hour, - ths Sixties and the Seventies, - will we see them again after this show. You nver know. Meanwhile Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice are slowly heading towards to their Seventies. And I pressume, we won't get many more chances to see 'em live on stage anymore after this.
So then off we go for the at least 15th time (at least what's up to me) to convince my- ourselves, whether Purple are still up to date, or whether they should slowly think about retireing.
And what nobody thinks, is the fact, that our Olympic Venue is filled with 8.000 visitors. (more than last time) who want to sing along for yet another time to 'Smoke On The Water' - and maybe it's the last time....

But take it step for step... because starting off are german rockers Edguy from the beautiful town of Fulda, who slowly getting a certain routine in supporting at the Olympic Hall.

We do remember well about their last appearance here for the Scorpions not too long ago. Let's put it that way. Meanwhile Edguy is a band, who can easily pull through a headliner tour on their own, and who wouldn't need to support other bands. But of course the venues are a little smaller than here. And so Tobi and his mates se it as a honour to support their own heroes and on the other hand do reach a much wider audiance... so why not.....?

..... and Tobi is dealing well with all Deep Purple fans and wins control over them quickly, which is pretty obvious.
But of course there are only 45 minutes to present the complete spectrum of the band, it is usually common to get down to the best of the best, as we say so. Little Tobi get the dolls dancing. And I can only say: Edguy are a brilliant live act no more no less....

And now we ware curious, what's coming next....

And they come up stage with a vengeance, though the tooth of time has bit off a little more of them what's up to the visual aspect. Never mind, as Deep Purple provide an absolute decent and energetic show here not missing out on anything... Respect! And who would have thought that. Starting off with 'Fireball', which shoots off like a rocket, and the already warmed up crowd are immidiately pushed up into further spheres of euphoric energy. Bassist Roger Glover is celebrating his 67th birthday. And some fans have not forgotten about this....as you can see so below.. - some fans who haven't been born, when this band first started out....

‚Strange Kind Of Woman’ one of my Faves of Purple, gets down very well such as  ‚Lazy’ and ‚Perfect Strangers’ and and and.....

....  In the end, the pull out almost every ace they've got, exept a few, Ian Gillan can't sing anymore. But of course one song mustn'd be missing and that's 'Smoke On The Water', - the track with the most famous hardrock riff of all times.
You also find an encore including 'Speedking' (not Highway Star), 'Hush' (orignally penned by Joe South' and last but not least 'Black Night'

So let's break off with a short and painless review here, as there is almost nothing to complain. And this elderly gentlemen just seem to experience their third spring. This here was very good indeed, and Deep Purple have repaired their already somehow suffering reputation.
The only thing which leaves a little bitter taste, is the thought, that there won't be any cultbands anymore in the future, when these and other's have once left the show stage. And I fear that won't take too long anymore. And what comes next? To be honest, right now, I don't wanna know about it....
