Yeah
well at least I could manage to check out Motörhead and Molly Hatchet on
the same evening. And this although both venues are pretty far away from
each other. But at night fortunately traffic ain't a problem. Of course I
don't get both full sets. But first of all I've seen Motörhead so often
in my entire life, that, it I did get 10 Euros for each time, I could go
on a luxury vacation, I presume. That's why I just stay for the first 3
songs photoshooting and two more tracks. Second - luckily Molly Hatchet
start their set just around 10 p.m. and so I can still enjoy over one hour
of their set. It's been 3 years, that I've seen Molly Hatchet last time at the Spectrum Club in Augsburg. It doesn't seem that long. But 3 years are long and there have been some changes within the band. It's Dave Hlubek back again in the band, the only original member, so he was with them from 1978 'till 1986. And now he's back again. There is also Tim Lindsey, who used to handle the bass in the Gary Rossington Band in the past. Apart from that it's still the same. Bobby Ingram (from 1985) Phil McGormack, voc. (since 1996), John Galvin on keyboard (since 1985,and with an interruption since 1995) and Shawn Beamer non drums (since 2001)
So
once again the southern rock flag has been put up to bring us the southern
Rock closer here in Europe. Unfortunately the resonance ain't that big,
like the Motörhead one's. I guess there are aprox. 150 fans. All
these diamonds like ‚Satisfied Man’ and ‚Stone In Your Heart’, why
are they never playing these great songs? Maybe there are royalitiy
reasons or just a band internal disliking of those songs... I haven't got
a clue, to be honest. Apart from that, the set doesn't leave any wishes
open to let the southern rock flair live up inside this excellent menue
card. It's most of all Dave Hlubek, who get's a lot of enthusiasm as the
returning original member... But it's also the excellent guitar playing of
Bobby Ingram, catching our attention..... Or is it drummer Shawn Beamer's
hair getting chased in the aircondition of his drumkit? |
